I think Trueman is handling the tricky problem of full back very well.

Yes he spilled one high kick (Catalans big plus point yesterday was kicking out of hand) but he played well,he picked the pocket of a Catalan player to create McShane's first try, and pulled off a try saver when that big forward came charging through that gap.

Like the rest of the side he'll get better when the ground firms up!

you cant knock keeping a team pointless , Mc Shane very busy again Clare had a great game Trueman made a couple of bloomers with the high ball but apart from that had a good game Cook took some great ball in along with the rest of our forwards I don't know why we have to flog Webster as it was obvious the lad was struggling , though we have not looked the finished article we are in fourth place with two games in hand so no one can grumble

Oli Holmes' best game in a Cas shirt for me was that in years. I think the forwards now know there is competition for places and some seem to have stepped it up more than others, Oli being the main one.

I'm not sure Webbo gets flogged. At some point in every game he looks in trouble, but he is one of the most resilient players we have, and one of the best. He doesn't do half-measures. When Wardle is playing, we have the option of bringing him off, as yesterday. With Wigan on the short turn around, it was a good move.
That right edge defence was something else.

Being brutally honest I thought we did enough to win without really hitting top gear. Les Cats certainly didn't seem interested at all and whether it's McBananaman or something else, they need a right kick up the jacksy.

I'm also convinced the kick through has become our main attacking ploy to get the lead then push on with the flowing rugby when the game's won.

These are not criticisms, just observations.

Flowing rugby, have I missed something?. Our main attacking ploy this year as been from kicks, hopefully our running game will improve with the conditions, we have gone from the most attractive side in the league to watch to one of the most boring. Just shows what a huge loss Hardaker as been.

Rhinos were boring and poor for 99% of the season but won the GF. I'd swap our flowing rugby for been GF winners anyday

I thought our victory over Cats was interesting. Seven tries scored and keeping the opposition scoreless would have lauded by pundits last year, but very little has been said of it this year and for me, this going under the radar will benefit us in 2018: https://uk.blastingnews.com/sport/2018/ ... 09325.html

The grand finals nearly always played in cold raining conditions for a starter , 41 0 on a pudding of a pitch and some people still not happy

Fans often accuse Powell of not having a plan B when plan A isn't coming off, but i was particularly pleased that we scored 5 tries from kicks, something were not really associated with like Hull or Leeds are. Gale was on point yesterday and has definately upped his short kicking game.

Yes gales best kicking game since he arrived. We needs it because everyone knows our attack is a little jady.

Our kicking game needed sorting out - it can still be better.

It's great to see us standing teams under their own posts before giving us the ball back for another 6 tackles. Despite a fantastic 2017, we were a bit naive at times. I want to see us create more stress for opposition sides by grinding them down in their own 40. We can chuck it about when they start to creak.

I must admit this year after watching our matches I have come away feeling my glass is half full, we should not moan whilst we are getting the two points, I must be me comparing last year with this when the ball seemed to move that little bit faster creating openings , hopefully when the grounds dry out this will happen again, one try I did enjoy on Sunday was when MC Shane and Milner inter passed allowing MC Shane to score that was one strait of the training pitch,

We are playing a very different style of rugby to last year as we have had to adapt to the loss of our fullback and the conditions of the pitch at Wheldon Road.
Our kicking options however greater this season, our pack is quality throughout and the squad are beginning to click.
As confidence grows and the pitches dry up I am confident our performances will become better and better.
The doom and gloom some forecast after the first game of the season is subsiding and our loss against Wire was so influenced by the conditions it was a total lottery.
Last season was the best I have witnessed but hopefully we will build and peak at the right time.
We have come a long way from avoiding relegation as being an aspiration so let's not get to cocky.
We now need to show our appreciation and make some noise.
