Just remember

Cas 66-10 Leeds

Look what happened in October.

Don't worry just yet. Saints away will be hardest game of year.

Let’s not be thinking this season is gonna mirror Leeds season last year.
I don’t care what happened with Leeds last year, it doesn’t mean we will win the GF cos we got slaughtered tonight.
Like DP said in an interview this week.
Starting strong is important cos you can soon get dragged into fighting with other teams in the middle 8’s.

I never said we will mirror Leeds. All I was bringing up was the fact results at the start of the season don't always show full proof as to what's ahead. Everyone relax. It's Saints away. Bring on Widnes next week where we will be better.

Lets hope so. In the last 2 competitive games this squad of players have managed 12 points

Leeds also had injury problems and the lightest back row I have ever seen on the night. We were selecting strength. I am not throwing the towel in but cannot take any comfort from Leeds last year. Leeds are also proven winners of the comp, we do not have that in our locker. We need to learn very quickly that to achieve anything like last season's league position will need a huge step up from last season. Here's hoping last night was about a light preseason (friendly wise), not being game ready and a poor attitude. Those things can be addressed at least.

One-off losses don’t end a season, but if we put together a run of them and don’t win many of the first eleven games it’s hard to get into the 4.

True but look at the team Leeds put out on the night - not exactly at full strength.

Then look at Cas team last night - how far off full strength is that?

The team looked shattered after 20 minutes, how is this possible it is the 1st real hit out of the season? Was James Green that tired after 5 minutes to be replaced by Flu victim Millington?

Did the squad put the effort in at the start of pre season while the coaching team was in Aus?

Extensive defensive effort because you lack respect of possession and cannot even receive the kick off correctly... Tackling saps energy 3 times more than attacking... McShane was up to 32 tackles by HT....

That kick off was as embarrassing as it gets. Kids at under 7/8 dont let that happen. Set the tone for the night.

Also remember Leeds had half a team out that night and we were more or less at full strength at Saints.

What other teams did and why/how is totally irrelevant to our situation. There were many reasons Leeds got done big time.

Last night was purely down to coaches and players with a fully fit squad. No excuses.

Any team in the league would have beaten us last night, plus a couple in the Championship in all likelihood. It was a real concern.

That was a team which, for the most part, was totally lacking in determination, commitment, spirit and pride, exemplified by McMeeken's refusal to involve himself a defensive effort early on which directly led to a Saints try.

Don't know what it is but something is clearly not right in the camp.

It was probably easier to bring green off rather than Millo to not alter our shape, not that we had any last night lol
