Powell's 1st big mistake...

Post by KB80 » 02 Feb 2018, 21:25

Roberts is absolutely awful at full back. Doesn't look fit, error prone and couldn't organise my sock draw. It was always a risk but the weakness of our back up options could prove to the 1st real mistake Powell has made.

We look a mess...

Looks like it will be a tough year, could never understand why we brought Ellis in rather than a specialist full back. Last 2 LLS winners have ended up in the qualifiers and the alarm bells will start ringing when Widnes beat us next week.

Defensive line; no speed, like a dog's hind leg - shocking
enthusiasm - shocking
Kicking game - shocking
Roberts positional play - shocking
Mike McMeeken - shocking

Shocking, shocking just ......shocking

Why we recruited so many average players when we could have signed Mead, which would have solved all our problems, is a mystery to me. Losing patience with Roberts in any position, fast becoming a liability.

I have some sympathy for Powell here. We couldn’t go out and get a new full-back because Zak’s situation isn’t resolved yet. We have to consider the possibility that he doesn’t get a ban.
Unfortunately, there are two people to blame. Roberts, who has the ability but is just lazy. He can’t be bothered to get himself in the right position. And Hardaker, whose stupidity means we don’t have him and can’t sign a replacement.

Because if Hardaker isn’t banned, we’ve then got two players who expect to be first-choice full-back. And we are over the salary cap.

Lynch and Monnas salary would have not been far off covering Meads wage....

It’s his fault he’s too lazy to return a 40-20 and too lazy to bother changing direction with play on the last tackle, allowing a rushed grubber kick to roll through for Saints to score.
It’s not a lack of ability. It’s a lack of effort.

That money is likely to have gone on improved contracts for the likes of McMeekan etc. If they left everyone would be moaning about not keeping our best players.....

He did make it to a kick before our full-back though.

And been carried over the line by a centre 10kg lighter to make that 3 important tackles missed which have resulted in saints tries.....

Off form so maybe a rest might be an option. We're not short of backrowers
