Saints (away) - Feb 2nd

Post by SuffolkTiger » 16 Nov 2017, 01:48

Looking forward a bit....

It's still 11 weeks away but what kind of numbers will we take to this?

Friday night, M62, on SKY and all that.. we couldn't have a tougher opening gig but a win will really give us a massive jump start.

Thoughts?

My son and I miss out on away matches over the M62 on Thursday and Fridays if it had been on a Sunday wild horses would not have stopped us, But what a match that is in store our biggest bogy away team against a CAS that could have a number of new faces in the team all wanting to impress , if we could pull it off it would confirm what I am thinking once again this could be THE YEAR OF THE TIGER,==== COME ON YE FORD

When we played saints first week in august there pack got on top of ours at the time it didnt really matter we were going to finish top of the league .month later in manchester are pack got dominated again and we lost the big one , that is a big concern for me looking into 2018
Hardaker will almost certainly be banned most people expect benny roberts to be given job at full-back
saints would be strong favourites to win this game for me as things stand
cue
are pack own saints pack
benny hat trick
saints 12 - cas 38

63 days to Saints at their place. Winter rugby.

I'm missing the away games big style.

It must be 62 days now, get over the biggest test we will face this season I cant remember how many times we have come back from Saints with our tails between our legs, one win I remember from many years back was in the cup big Bill Bryant scoring a try

Feb 1964, 13-6 to Cas. Yes, Murphy stand off. Ray French and Tom Van Vollenhoven played.

In my minds eye I can see big Bill scoring on the left hand side of the pitch on a sunny day, funny of all the trys I have seen this one and frank smith scoring against a tour side stick in my mind, 61 days to ko its like having an advent calendar ticking the days off

I remember beating saints away in the championship play off in 1969. we were chased all around the streets around the ground afterwards. I also remember beating them in the john player comp. We scored first though JJ. But were losing 18 5 at half time. second half Sammy kicked 2 penalties to make it 18 9. I can't remember who scored next but we were only 18 14 down. We scored again and Sammy kicked the goal to put us 19 18 up. Bruce Burton then scored to finish it 18 22. At the time I was on the committee of the Knottingley Branch of the supporters club. When we got back to our bus the lights had been smashed and as such we couldn't travel home. We went to the saints board room to remonstrate with them over the treatment of our transport. Only to be told WE NEVER HAVE ANY TROUBLE HERE, IT MUST HAVE BEEN YOUR FANS THAT DID IT. I also remember us being very lucky to beat st Helens recs in an early round of the cup after being well behind for most of the match.

I was at the 18-22 JP game. An incredible comeback. I saw the bus get smashed up and some other trouble - not good.

It was live on BBC but I've never seen any highlights - has anyone else?

Didn't we only beat Recs 23-22?
If right, I have no idea why I remembered that!
