Warning - fake EBay shirts

Post by nottinghamtiger » 12 Nov 2017, 21:52

There have been a number of shirts for sale on EBay claiming to be ‘player shirts’. Eg:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CASTLEFORD-T ... Sw7khZ-yWb
This is not a player shirt (these have small differences, such as the X Blades logo) nor is it one of Luke Gale’s (not even numbered in the correct font).
If the seller is willing to pretend it is, they are also unlikely to be genuine signatures.
At best, this is a signed replica shirt with cheap numbering.
Shame some are trying to profit from our success......

Genuine numbering (bottom) v non-genuine numbering (top).

They're selling a 2015 shirt signed by 2017 squad?! That alone is enough to make my head hurt.

Even the official Featherstone Rovers EBay page are trying it on.
They have two “match worn” England shirts listed for sale:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/featherstone ... 7675.l2559
All match worn England shirts have the player’s heritage number on the front.
Even the mud stains look fake. The shirts are bright white apart from the odd splash of mud, presumably from the turf at Post Office Road.

There is no mention of it being a 'player's shirt'. The fact they have included a photo of the back, with non-standard numbering, suggests they are not trying to pass it off as anything other than what it is.

other than the title saying 'player shirt' and the line 'we can authenticate the shirt' which implies it's the real deal. You don't authenticate something unless it's the real deal.

This is the title of the listing:
CASTLEFORD TIGERS 2015 PLAYER #7 HOME SHIRT SIGNED BY 2017 SQUAD MAN OF STEEL
I’d say the use of “Player #7 home shirt” suggests they are climbing it is a player’s shirt?

And another.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Framed-CASTL ... Swy0JaDfxt
Listed as a “2017 Winning Season Home Shirt”.
It’s actually a 2016 shirt signed by the 2016 squad. It’s still nice though, but not worth what a 2017 shirt would be.
