Interesting that in the new WMDC Castleford Masterplan that WR has once again been earmarked for housing development.

To me that looks like a promotional video put out by a developer looking for key tenants. 2021 .... another setback .... hope that they can deliver bit seriously doubt it .....

Don't Cas/the Fultons own WR? How can WMDC earmark a privately owned area for housing?

That’s what Local Plans do. Councils work with landowners/ developers and ultimately can use compulsory purchase powers particularly where sites are redundant
But they may well already be in discussion with Cas

Agreed; this is not aimed at informing punters. It's as much a cause for concern as it is optimism.

Aside from that in the video it says we will start building this year.

I would have thought you couldn't use Company names to advertise unless they have already committed to the project...

Well when I first saw this I read it as a positive but can fully understand there being scepticism.

I suppose we don’t have long to find out though as according to the timeline highways work will start Q2/3 this year. So if nothings happened by the end of September then there’ll be more sceptics than ever!

Which is why, other than those already signed-up, the names are either spelt incorrectly (Monsoom, Supadry, UNI OLO) or inconspicuous.

One the plus side, there are signs of pegging out on the M62 roundabout, which may signal an imminent start of that work.

had to laugh reading the bit in the pont + cas about the new ground. there is a section where some are complaining about the congestion that already occurs in the area.
one lady complains that she works at junction 32 and it takes her 30-40 minutes to get to work and worse on bank holidays. she follows this up by saying she lives less than 10 minutes away, so surely it would be quicker and easier to walk. I wonder how many there are like her because its people like this who are the cause of the congestion.

If people are complaining now, when the road improvements start they may have something to complain about, but on completion hopefully the traffic will flow better than it does at the present time, WHEN we actually get our new stadium our KO times will not be at peak traffic times unless our pay masters decree different. todays KO of time a prime example

Anyone who works at J32 or Exscape will be able to get in and out a lot quicker when the new road is built this year. Planning is on for march and completion this year. It will join the round-a-bout near the M62 (the one past the new houses at Asda) with the round-a-bout at McDonalds (Exscape) via Flass Lane.
