Except the outline planning permission and a number of confirmed retailers.

People need to be patient - I appreciate it's hard but they don't just get built overnight.

A number of times we've said on this thread that the plan is to start in the Spring on the site and the first part is the highways, infrastructure and groundworks.

Completely wrong. SG has continuously said he will NOT put out news to appease the fans. The club is reliant on Lateral and the people involved to dictate when things should be released, and the club will only release news when there is news.

There was an update nothing more than a month or so ago in League Express which clearly stated that the financial backer had pulled out but a new one had been agreed and put in place.

It also said there were a number of new retailers to be announced and that the electric pylons had moved.

The club is in catch 22. They say we're moving in by X and people get upset when things are missed. They hold back and don't release information, they get told they aren't getting any news.

There is an outstanding pending application for the car garage, which is still awaiting the Planning and Highways Commission to determine. The council have just had a break for Christmas. It is now overdue.

There was an interview with him on Look North i believe, where he clearly said we will be in a new stadium by 2020 and that we only have a matter of so many games left to play at WR? either he's a confident man and knows something we don't or he's telling the fans what they want to hear!

This was March last year, so thats at least 15/20 already played. Either he's a confident man and knows something we don't or he's telling the fans what they want to hear!

I haven’t taken too much interest in the new ground scheme , as I don’t really wish to move away from Wheldon Road , but I do believe if SG has stated they hope to be in the stadium for 2020 that’s what the developers have told him, and he is only relaying the information he is given. But to say he’s lied is out of order.

Hudds thanks for your input, but a number of posters it seems, would have us believe Rome would have been built in a day, if they had been in charge of the construction.

Anyone know how long it took from getting planning permission to actually playing a game in the saints and Warrington stadiums.
Just want some sort of comparison.

Dont get built overnight? Try dont get built over a decade. Does anyone know when the club first decided on a new ground. Just the year will do.

So if SG has categirically said he WONT give timescales and some people saw/heard him say "New ground by 2020, not many games left at WR" then which one is correct?

Best for steve gill to make no promises of when were going to be in new ground just make announcments when he can ...people still remember richard wright every other week in the ponte and cas making a statement the new ground was on track and a possitive statement was about to be made when in fact there wasnt a snowballs chance in hell of it happening

I’ve just looked at my notes from the last AGM , and it was said even though they were hopeful of being in the new stadium by 2020 it ultimately was down to the developers, but the BOD said whatever delays or obstacles faced , they would not skimp in investing in the playing, coaching or administration staff. It concluded by saying they would also neglect Wheldon Road , and it would be a fitting tribute to the stadium to bring a trophy back before we moved . Hope this helps

You can’t compare the projects they are completely different.

For our club to reach the heights it so richly deserves we need a new stadium, on a selfish note i don't think there could be a better atmosphere than at a packed Weldon RD, so in the mean time i will keep turning up like i have done over these many years on match days

There's still 102 weeks until 2020. The stadium build only takes around 50 of those, especially if all the groundworks are done in this year. It's probably less in practice.

Comparing is futile purely for the fact they were built in different economies and different market conditions.

St Helens - plans were announced in June 2007. They didn't move in and play in there until 2012 (4 and half years). They worked with Pilkington Glass or someone like that, who bought Knowsley Road from them I believe

Warrington - Outline planning permission was submitted in May 2000 - ground handed over in October 2003, first game in 2004. Built in partnership with the Tesco nextdoor. Big supermarkets aren't looking to develop new large format foodstores any more, hence the change of planning app from ours.

3 years from outline PP to build date.

Cas - Outline Planning permission submitted July 2014 (Warrington timeframe would be last year). St Helens timeframe early 2019.

We are being funded as part of a retail development.
Steve was probably told these dates.
It’s a difficult one of which the club has NO control.
I think unlike HUD 2020 is not going to happen. It’s too tight.
I think if the development happens and it’s still a 50/50 bet then we have 5 more seasons at home. If nothing is signed by 2020 then we look at plan B.
If it happens before these dates it’s a bonus. That way we can put the matter to bed.
For now we concentrate on building on 2017 on the field.
That’s my view
