With this project being conceived around five year ago if not longer and around seventy units available and with only three portrayed as taken you must question is the sales team any good the old line of commercial sensitivity is another way of saying we cannot announce any more because there is no more tenants signed as previous poster has mentioned ground facilities will become an issue and without a new ground it does not look good for Castleford

To knock what fev have done with there ground is ridiculous. Theve done a great job . In contrast Cas have done zilsh and longer the if and when carrys on the worse it will get . The toilets are embarrassing how we expect women to use them and remember we've just increased general admission is crazy. Sometime soon Toronto will get into super league and maybe other new franchises can you honestly see Cas allowed in a global super league with that ground . One of the worst things for me and sums up our present situation is the Arthur Atkinson gates they are disgusting and disrespectful to his great achievement and memory. Why cant we give them six months to start the project or WE pull out and look for funding to work on the old lady because without us they cant build nothing so who needs who most.

But in the old saying, you can't polish a proverbial.

Fev might have some nice stands they managed to get on the cheap but it doesn't enhance the atmosphere, doesn't increase the commercial opportunities. We could do the same by knocking down the Railway End but it would still make it look like we're just glamming it up for the sake of it than doing an actual proper job.
Interesting take on the Cappers patch but not entirely true:

They are never going to have a large match-day corporate set-up but the new stands have allowed extra bars and indeed, small units that operate throughout the week. Their clubhouse is busy most weekend evenings and they tend to host most of the amateur cup finals which brings in a few quid over the course of the season.

Not raking in millions but enough to allow some investment in a team for the championship and certainly a model that could be built on.

For Cas, it's not a question of trying to polish the proverbial but finding the investment for the polish.
It may good enough for a Championship side where your attendances are 2.5k to 3k a week but not enough for a competitive Super League side. Their turnover would probably be up there with Salford, Hudds, Widnes and Wakey.

If they ever did want to be a Super League side, and a top one at that, they'd be in same boat as us. The Wakefield District is in bad need of one decent stadium. Fev may say they're happy there and that's fine for now, but in reality all 3 clubs should have got together with the council a long time ago, back before Wakey sold Belle Vue and built a joint stadium in the district centrally in Normanton, which is equi-distant between all 3.

At this moment, providing ours does indeed get built, it would put us in the best position of being the premier, elite club as I can't ever see Fev getting up and Wakey will not own theirs.

Just gone by the site on the way to hull.
Got a good view not a thing happening.
No machinery, nothing.
It’s just sitting there waiting for something to happen .

Might be because it’s Friday night and they’ve finished for the weekend?

Because no one is going to fund £20m+ for a stadium at Wheldon Rd, without high interest repayments where if we don’t make one we default and they own the ground.

Why would we pull out of a Project where we get a stadium for FREE?

You only get it for free if you get it and so far only thing we got for free is empty promises. Bare in mind it was a 10million pound stadium when the project started so how they going to free fund a stadium of 20million and counting in the present retail climate. Great to dream but there comes a time when you got to smell the coffee.

The cost to build a stadium in one go is cheaper than the cost of redeveloping Wheldon Rd in stages, properly. That’s what I meant.

This is to do with the cost of buying materials in bulk etc.

A joint stadium? You joking? How on earth would that be good for us?Or any of the teams for that matter?Lack of income and first step to a merger

I read on the rhino's board they will be paying £half a million a year for 34 years to pay for their re-development. that's one huge debt.

Absolutely agree, a joint 3 club stadium is last thing we want, why would we - just because we happen to be under same local authority? We’re almost as close to Leeds as Wakefield or Barnsley for that matter! We really need to keep our identity and any shared stadium would risk eroding that!

How would other teams playing in a Castleford owned & branded stadium, paying rent contributing to Cas losing their identity?

The point being made was a stadium for all 3 clubs, funded by the wmdc council, possibly in Normanton, no mention of the stadium being in Castleford. We need our own identity and stadium in Castleford.

Why would anyone be so stupid to want to abandon the plans at Glasshoughton for something else?

Or do people think large scale builds are instant and because there's no movement yet it's not happening?

Some great posts over the years from a poster or two - how many times has it been "work starting later this year?" And, yet, many still take their word as gospel. I guess at some point they may actually be correct...........

Had a leaflet through door today advertising the event coming up regarding plans of the stadium.
Anyone else had one.
Sadly I’ve seen it all before. Can’t get up for new stadium events.
I’ll wait until I’m walking into the stadium, then I’ll believe it.
