The point being made was a stadium for all 3 clubs, funded by the wmdc council, possibly in Normanton, no mention of the stadium being in Castleford. We need our own identity and stadium in Castleford.TheSheriff wrote:How would other teams playing in a Castleford owned & branded stadium, paying rent contributing to Cas losing their identity?Danny Boy wrote:Absolutely agree, a joint 3 club stadium is last thing we want, why would we - just because we happen to be under same local authority? We’re almost as close to Leeds as Wakefield or Barnsley for that matter! We really need to keep our identity and any shared stadium would risk eroding that!

Why would anyone be so stupid to want to abandon the plans at Glasshoughton for something else?
Or do people think large scale builds are instant and because there's no movement yet it's not happening?

Some great posts over the years from a poster or two - how many times has it been "work starting later this year?" And, yet, many still take their word as gospel. I guess at some point they may actually be correct...........

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
Had a leaflet through door today advertising the event coming up regarding plans of the stadium.
Anyone else had one.
Sadly I’ve seen it all before. Can’t get up for new stadium events.
I’ll wait until I’m walking into the stadium, then I’ll believe it.

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
I’m replying to your post but it’s for more generally to all who replied. People seem to be thinking I’m saying all 3 clubs should do it now. I never said that - i said that all 3 clubs should have done it a long time ago when Wakey owned their ground too, and all contributed to getting a stadium built.TheSheriff wrote:Why would anyone be so stupid to want to abandon the plans at Glasshoughton for something else?

They would all have ownership, all be responsible for upkeep and all have a stake along with WMDC. Shared costs, and a decent stadium for all to play in.
Nowadays it doesn’t make sense because we would be funding it in the majority and we don’t have the cash.

I still remember the ‘we will be in our new stadium for the start of the 2014 season’

I'm sorry, I'm still to be convinced and am firmly in the 'I'll believe it when I'm stood in it' camp. I really want to be proved wrong on this one though
Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
I will believe it, when someone kicks off in the first match there and I am standing on the terraces, if it is still in my lifetime. It`s dragged on for far to long now - first of all the original plans which were then shelved, then the new one and still nothing yet. It is 11 years since the original announcement and not a single brick laid yet.
Why is our new stadium taking so long?. Saints, Warrington & Leigh had theirs built within 2 years of inception.

Looks like back to square one, and still awaiting planning approval, then a 30 months build.

Looking at 2022 at the earliest now, if ever.

They haven't submitted the final plans for the stadium until they know what we want. They'll have a rough idea from blueprints of other similar builds. You have to put plans in for how everything will look, seat colours, seat spacing, how many rows, in which direction they face, how high the back of it is,,,,stuey wrote:Looks like back to square one, and still awaiting planning approval, then a 30 months build.

However it is straight forward add the difficult thing is getting the outline planing permission which is in the bag.

They've had full planning approved for highways and site development work already. This detail, as Mart has already mentioned, is the actual granular detail in relation to the building height, what's been included in the stadium, the actual features, the locations of everything internally.
This is additional detail to the outline planning permission which has already been approved, and is seen as more of a formality. The stadium isn't due to being start built until next year.
Also, the 30 month timeframe is the total time for the entire site build. The stadium is due to open and be complete before the retail development is.

You can see what's included in the plans for the old development that Waystone were doing here: https://planning.wakefield.gov.uk/onlin ... S9ZQQ06X00
Click on Associated Documents and follow the link and go to the last page and all the different design/images are in there. Should give you an idea of what to expect/the detail this is for
