Because there’s a massive difference playing against another countries under 19s and playing in SL???

tbf m8 I don't mind this option-I've not seen him myself and if he was given a go then eden would be where he is most effective.i am of the opinion if you're good enough you're old enough.

It is a huge difference from 19s to first team but those that have stepped up from the 19s this year across the board haven't looked out of place tbh and those that have are certainly no better than what we have. Both the lads that play full back are going into pre season training with the first team when we return and I guess how they go in training and the pre season friendlies depends on wether they are ready. Both had a taste last year in the pre season games and both went well.

Don't like repeating what I posted, and even if he is a Rhino, young Jack Walker is the perfect example of what a young 'un' can bring to the game. We certainly missed him, went to same school as Danny Orr. Nothing to lose by putting a lad in if he is good enough.

I agree with you if they are ready physically and mentally for the challenge.

age should not be a barrier if the young guns are good enough and fiscally strong enough we should not be frightened to play them , if you go through the current test team I wouldn't mind betting most of them made there debuts before they had finished with the under 19s

How old was Danny Orr when he got into the first team? My recollection was that he was fast tracked mid-season when Casper transferred to Wigan

With the backs I think age is irrelevant, but coaches are probably more weary about putting young props straight in as their bodies just aren't ready.

How would anyone know when a teenager is good enough if he isnt given a shot? Pre season friendlies arent the way to find out. They may look outstanding in training but does that mean they are ready? I think not.

Full intensity is the only way they will improve and gain experience to play SL. If we are decimated by injuries then young players are used due to necessity and often when the team isnt winning or playing well. Not the brst environment.

We have just had our best season ever and that would be easier to give the young players a chance as they are surrounded by better players in a winning team. A better environment. :D :D

I don't have an issue with giving young players a shot, but, excluding young Turner taking his shot and proving to be physically and mentally ready to play a key position for the duration of the season to a high standard (which I think is unlikely) are full back options are pretty poor. Big worry for me.

How do you know he’s better than Eden or Roberts.
I’ve watched shenny all his career at cas and never once have I seen him play at full back.
So tbh it would be a gamble.

I'd go a long with this.a full back does more running, more talking and more decision making than any other player on the pitch.some of this skill cannot be taught they are attributes that a player is born with. The best players to mould into a full back is a half back has that's the closest role to it attacking wise any way. Michael Shenton has none of the above skills to even consider in this role. It's either Roberts or Eden or both over the season.

Definitely switched to fb once or twice during a game because of an injury
