2018 squad and Depth

Post by InTheKnow » 22 Sep 2017, 13:42

How does everyone feel about our squad and Depth next season. Where do we need to improve or are we complete. Here is what I have. May of missed a player or 2 off as worked it from top of my head:

FB: Hardaker, Eden, Roberts
W: Eden, Minikin, Hitchcox, Lo, Gill
C: Shenton, Webster, Minikin, Wardle, Gill, Egodo
SO/SH:Gale, Roberts, Trueman, McLelland
H: McShane, Milner, O'Neill
P: Millington, Cook, Moors, Jesse, Springer, Patrick, Massey, Maher, Douglas
SR: Jesse, McMeekan, Wardle, Moors, Holmes, Foster
LF:Milner, Massey, fitszimmons

I've put Wardle in at C/SR - Moors and Jesse in at P/SR. Eden and Roberts FB cover as well as a few youngsters. Are we happy or do we need anymore?

1. Out and OUT ball handling & aggressive prop
2. Utility Man capable of making a position his own, and able to cover half

An aggressive ball handling prop would be ideal but usually they're on or the other. I'd settle for big and aggressive, we're not short on ball players.

Just a prop to replace Lynch I think.
Walmsley or Tagataese would do.

What if you could have a clone of Millington or a 'nasty prop' as people keep asking for? I know which one I would have

We really do need a new prop. With Lynch retiring, Moors struggling with injuries lately, Patrick the same, Springer going AWOL... we need some size up front. This is where Hull and Saints have the upper hand on us, and why they've beaten us.

Yea i dont think we need a nasty prop, they usually come with a lot of penalties, we need another smart prop thats big and strong and sticks to the game plan.

Walmsey or either of the Burgess twins would be perfect but unlikely, maybe the new signing Bustin will turn out to be it

Give Powell someone like Ryan Sutton to work with and he'd be a revelation in our squad

Tonight has just answered that I think.

Any injuries and we have a problem

So what do you suggest? Get rid of the young lads and sign another 13 first teamers to sit in the stand until we get injuries.

Majority of missed tackles leading to trys tonight were by first teamers. (Eden Gadwin Fozz Jesse) to name a few.

Don't know. I'd like to see a prop brought it tbh.

Maybe they just couldn't be arsed knowing it's all about next week. Really a nothing game for us.

I'm hoping it's that and we aren't going to fall apart when it matters

I'm focused on next week, we need to win next week and cement our best ever season.

Simple as that for me.

We were soft.
Compared to hull who got at us, 3 man tackle, hit us with force, played much faster than us.
We seem to just go through the motions and we're desperate for the 80 mins to be up.
Our whole attitude stank.
Not a very professional performance at all.
In fact very embarrassing.

Powell said tonight. He knows his team already for next week and I bet the players do too.

So let's hope it was cos they couldn't be arsed tonight

Some perspective required here I think.
Hull played the very best team they had available. They risked injury and suspension to finish in the play-offs.
We didn't need to.
I'd rather lose and have our best players available for next week than win and have anyone injured.
The result meant nothing to us.
