Hope you enjoy it
We make the journey up most weeks during the season
Cas fans are the best in the world
I left Cas 43 years ago but the Jungle still feels like home not just to me but also my wife and kids who were all born in Nottingham

However, I get the added bonus of leaving the wife behind as she's not keen!

That's three of us with a Nottingham connection of sorts then.
I am from there but now live near Derby hence my user name.
I assume that if Cas make it to the GF, tickets are not a problem given OT's capacity ?
It's being advertised on Talk Sport now.

Can't imagine there will be any issues getting GF tickets.DerbyTiger wrote:That's three of us with a Nottingham connection of sorts then.

If Cas make it, it's better to buy from the club if you want to sit with the Castleford supporters!

Hopefully will visit the Griffin before the game in order to support pubs that serve real ale. However I should point out that Spouse insists that we drink a bottle of Prosecco before pizza at Xscape. May be stepping off both feet tonight. At the same time.
It's good that Derby has chosen 'a small town in Wakefield' type club. I could go on at some length about the wearers of Leeds shirts around Castleford. And on. And on........
Have a good'un everyone.

Joking aside there is a grain of truth in this. Under Basil we were an average club who were struggling to attain that playing standard.
Now we are punching way, way above our weight. Yes this makes this story all the more remarkable but tbh, everything outside of this fantastic story is the same. For the moment at least.

It's not the size of the town, it's the size of the crowd and the size of the heart. Salford is a sizeable city!

Hope you are back next week for another visit.
You'll see a very different team on the paddock and the intensity on and off the field cranked up considerably.
Safe travels

Re: Attending First Game - Advice Please
Just got home after one and a quarter hour drive
Got stuck on the M18 coming and took 2 and a half hours but saw the start
Good atmosphere
Will give my thoughts for what its worth tomorrow
Need to sleep
Thanks to Chris and Carol for recognising me (or my Maine Black Bears cap) and talking to me.
Cheers

Re: Attending First Game - Advice Please
Numb.
Didn't mind losing this match but it had to have an element of a close, either way result.
What I didn't want was a typical Hull performance ie big bodies moving well. This is exactly what I didn't want to see.
Well done Hull.
I am certainly damaged tonight.
This is sport and I look forward to the unfolding story.
Went to the Griffin but could hardly get through the door.( managed 3 pints mind).
Might play some Punk Rock. Night night all.

Re: Attending First Game - Advice Please
Trip Report (I know it's not Trip Advisor !)
Worst possible start - saw the "40" signs on the M1 then on the M18 so had enough by the time I arrived.
Easily found the florists on Pontefract Road and got the last parking space. Will use the car park near Pappa's in future and get some food from there. Spoke to some Hull fans on the way to the stadium, seemed a decent bunch.
They asked me some Rugby questions so I just agreed !
Wasn't sure where to go in so remembered that you can walk around the stadium. Stood in the WRE near the back close to the small bar next to the open section.
Felt a bit of a spare part standing on my own not knowing what was going off but I sit on my own at Notts (I do have some friends !) so kind of used to that.
The chap next to me recognised my cap from a previous post so opened a conversation with me which was good of him - thanks Chris.
After that I asked him about the rules and RL in general. I now know what the Magic Weekend is.
I am still confused about some of the rules:
What warrants a scrum and what the teams gain from it ?
Why a player taps the ball on his boot then restarts the game ?
Why a player chooses to kick into touch rather than pass (I get the 5th tackle though) ?
Hull had a penalty and chose to kick over rather than get another 6 tackles (?) and the chance of another 6 points rather than just 2. Is that because its an easy 2 points ?
etc
I will pick that up no doubt.
The stadium reminded me of football in the 70s/80s, all terracing behind the sticks - not a bad thing just used to sitting down at football.
You are allowed to take beer into the stadium ! Not allowed at football.
And how big are those beer glasses - 2 pints ?
If I wasn't driving I would have had a couple of those.
The fans clearly love their team and I noticed that nearly everybody wears a Tigers shirt or hat.
It was a bit more rowdy than I was expecting (in a good way) and a great atmosphere was generated.
What do the fans think about moving to a new stadium ?
You have to move with the times and give people more modern facilities or it's full of character as it is ?
Would I go again ?
I have a ticket for next Friday anyway.
If they make the GF I would like to go even though it means missing Notts v Forest Green Rovers....what glamour.
Would I go again next season ? Yes definitely.
Many thanks to all those offering advice and recommendations and making me feel welcome.
