The semi final is 28th September.
I'd rest players on the 22nd. The team we play will have then had a 5/6 day turnaround. Or boys will have had 11 days.
The only issue is if Hull (who we play on 22nd) need to win to make 4th. We don't want to go into the semi on the back of a defeat by the team we play!
We would play a weakened team ,[and probably beat them ]

But if we beat them then they are unlikely to make 4th and therefore, won't have to play them in the semi. Therefore, the big question on the 22nd will be who do we want to play?

Hull will finish 3rd. They are 2 wins ahead of the chasers with 4 to play.

Wouldn't surprise me. Think we will go closer to full strength away at Wigan and at home to Hull.

He'll keep the spine of the squad the same. So I'd expect Hardaker. Shenton. Gale. McShane and Milner all to play.

I wouldn't want players turning out in the semi or final who hadn't played for several weeks so In the next 2 or 3 matches I'd try to play the likes of Tom Holmes, Springer, Patrick etc who might not be in the first choice 17 but who might be called upon if we have injuries or suspensions and give a rest to those carrying injuries. I wouldn't play Maher or Egodu as they are never going to play in the semi or the final.

Can't see Tom Holmes playing in the final If Roberts or Gale (god forbid) were injured, macshane would be in the halfs and don't forget Millo's been there as well. Play the strongest fir 17 every week. We are in the semis, next target is 50 league points!!!!

That's exactly the side I would like to see play at Huddersfield, with Patrick, Cook, Maher and Milner, the 4 subs. Give our England contingent an extended rest along with Millo, Massey, JSL, McShane and Minnikin who have all hardly missed all season and / or could do with an extended blow. I believe that side can definitely win the game. It would be disappointing if we did not, but at least we would have the consolation of Hudds still breathing down the necks of Wakey, Saints and Wigan.

However I expect the side to be much different and whatever it is, you can bet that DP will get it right. He has that great knack of knowing his players inside out and who is doing what in training etc. That's why he is a great coach.

Rest a few against Huddersfield
Full strength against Rhinos (keep run going against them)
Rest a few against Wigan (we play hull 5 days later and they play on the Thurs)
Full strength against Hull

I wouldn't go full strength against Hull. 6 days before we play our semi final. I would rest anyone with a little knock or a bit low on Steam.

Incidentally, does anyone know just how many games Andy Lynch has got to play to break the SL record?

Thinking these days seems to be keep playing your best team more or less to keep momentum going ,in our position the temptation would be to wrap gale and hardaker in cotton wool make sure they dont get injured

3 to equal it 4 to break it with potentially (now he is out of the squad for tomorrow) only 5 games left if we get to GF.
