I think we have back up in Maher, Gill, Douglas and I'd give egodo a go. I would however like to see a quality prop come in burgess, Walmsley, some one known and high profile.

We have a larger salary cap next year and we'll be in profit. We need to back this year up and we can be top 4 for a few years to come.[/quote]

Agree with you there

Don't think we need a superstar but I'd be happy with someone like Shannon Wakeman or craig Kopczak. Good performing props at SL level.

We need a prop that can drive in hard with out any consequences on his own body.
Some one who can make half breaks or break through tackles.
Someone who can tackle like a Trojan.
Someone who can draw 3/4 players into the tackle.
If your out there apply at Castleford Tigers wheldon rd.
You won't regret it.

The thing we need most is size. Playing JSL at prop is necessary when Moors is out of course, but it's just not gonna cut it long term if he's the backup every time. Runs his blood to water but is much better in the second row.

Look at the size of Hull's pack in comparison - it's where we've been beat by them.

Kopczak is a great player. He was consistently Huddersfield's best forward in terms of metres gained, average gain and tackles, whilst making very few errors and conceding few penalties despite a high tackle-count. He has continued in this vain at Salford.
He has over 250 Super League games under his belt. He would have been an ideal replacement for Lynch, but I believe he signed a new contract with Salford a couple of months ago.

Newcastle Knights have confirmed JW's release at the end of this season and a transfer fee (6 figure) is payable :-

As much as I'd rate Wardle as a signing, I really hope we haven't paid a six figure sum to land him

Agreed Fumper. He had 2 years left so I suppose that is the reason we have had to cough up. Did Wigan pay for the returning Joe Burgess or Hudds for Jordan Turner ?

If we pay a 6 figure sum I'll be livid. Complete waste of money.

It it thought the deal is $100,000 Australian dollars. Today's exchange rate that is £60,993. That ain't too bad for a solid forward who can play second row and centre.

Still around £61,000 which I don't think is money well spent. He is a good player but transfer fees should only be paid for top class

Unfortunately we have to compete financially, as well as on the field of play, that is the way of the RL world nowadays, and if it strengthens the team that is okay, only time will tell.

Fair enough but I'm happy letting Powell judge whether he's worth it and see whether he enhances the team next season

Its nice to think were one of the few clubs in this country prepared to spend money to get player they want ...i wouldnt have spent that much myself if thats what weve paid but on other hand hes a fine player hel enhance the squad no doubt about that

I'd reserve judgement if I were you. To me if we win another trophy next year he will have been worth it, as every player this year has been worth what they have cost. Including Gadwin and monners.

£61,000 for a player of his calibre is decent. Players in contract have to be bought out. If we wait until the end of his contract we would probably lose out to another team. We are in profit this year so why not spend it strengthening. He can play back row and centre. He was good in Superleague. One of Huddersfield's better players when they were near top of league. Powell will get the best out of him and I can't wait to see him play. £61,000 isn't too bad when you see some figures teams pay for players.
