Re: Squad for Leigh
After only 10 mins yesterday and not in squad for leigh...do we think springer is all but gone.
Such a pity ... but cannot see him coming back into the squad unless we have serious injuries.
From a starting prop at the start of the season to out of the squad.....I thought he was hungry last night but seems DP saw something else.

Re: Squad for Leigh
Don't understand it. Looked dangerous. Scored a great gutsy try and could have scored before that if he had gone for line instead of throwing a long pass away. But 10 minutes? Didn't seem tired or injured. Not even in squad for Leigh. Should be awesome with size and strength of him but clearly something not right.init wrote:After only 10 mins yesterday and not in squad for leigh...do we think springer is all but gone.

Something is defo not right. 10min and scored then dropped.
Not in need of a rest as he's hardly played over past 5 weeks.
Concern will be end of season and we burn out.
Lynch can't do week to week now that's clear
Springer never gets a game
Larroyer never gets a game
O.Holmes injured no eta
Patrick hopefully will be back as we will need him I reckon

Re: Squad for Leigh
I presumed Springer picked up an injury with him being replaced after a good stint up to half time. At end of game when walking round he had heavy strapping on his thigh, did he have this on during the his game time as I didn't notice?

Springer looked to have done his hamstring, no strapping when he came on, but noticed by my mate at full time saying looks like he has picked up an injury.Sharlotiger wrote:I presumed Springer picked up an injury with him being replaced after a good stint up to half time. Re: Squad for Leigh
Went to Newcastle and the Leeds game was one of the most fastest and intense I have ever seen. I noticed worrying signs of fatigue and lethargy yesterday, (though didn't affect Leeds) Due to the RFL'S diabolical decision we will be up against a fresh Saints outfit next week and when fatigued players come up against fresh one that's when injuries kick in. Hemce the proposed reduction in interchange rules. It's also common knowledge that the Easter programme can knock back certain teams for weeks on end and so a 2nd one could create havoc.
With this in mind I would have thrown all of Larroyer, Foster, Tom Homes, Gill and Maher into the fray Monday, along with Junior and Webbo. Think we'd definitely still win with these in, but if not sometimes you have to take a step back to go forward. I would much rather lose one on Monday rather than knacker ourselves up for weeks to come, which could have huge implications for the rest of the season.

Springer was holding his hamstring as soon as he got up from scoring and was being escorted by the physio still clutching it when leaving the field for the half time break.

Re: Squad for Leigh
Walking in front of the WRE after the game he was limping.
Looks like a thigh injury.
Looks like a thigh injury.
Re: Squad for Leigh
Not good if injured...but hope that is the reason as i thought he looked strong when on.
Re: Squad for Leigh
Springer was brought off straight after his try and immediately got a bag of ice taped to his knee then took it off before walking around the fieldSharlotiger wrote:I presumed Springer picked up an injury with him being replaced after a good stint up to half time. Thigh was always strapped up

Re: Squad for Leigh
Id drop monas and foster, monas was good under the high ball but lacked pace and finnishing ability which we get from both gregs on the wing especaily with webster and shenny on the inside, definatly got to give laroyer a go to see where he is as a player and fits into how we play, back to a strong squad though looking forward to it just hope its not as close as widnes was
Re: Squad for Leigh
When Webster is out id play Monaghan in centres n leave Minikin on wing, far better with pace on the edges

Re: Squad for Leigh
Harrison Hansen missing.
Crooks and Hampshire in 19 after missing Hull game. Rest played vs Hull so hopefully that acts in our favour.
Bringing in a fresh Webster, Moors, Larroyer, Holmes and Foster may help give us that advantage.

Agree with that HT. Against Widnes on paper there was no comparison in the relative quality of players that took the field for both sides. We had far superior personnel, and they had a real scratch side out. However they had either 7 or 8 Players that did not feature at Newcastle and their freshness nearly got them home. Only our superior skill got us home. Our lads looked jaded and they looked fresher and livelier.
Sometimes you have to take a gamble and I'd throw all of Larroyer, Foster and Holmes in.
Taking away Foster and Tom Holmes who have only played two games each, a big concern for me is that we are almost half way through the season and we have only used 20 players, in fact make that 19 really as Ollie Holmes has only played about 3, and it of course includes Rangi who has now gone. It's worked for us, no problem, as we are top of the league, but the question is how much longer can we keep using the same small group of players.
