Samoa v England

How crazy is this fixture right in the middle of a clubs domestic season, I am expecting at least 3 of our players being picked to travel and maybe play for England, if Samoa decides to call we could loss another 3 , this could cause the loss of two valuable league points, I think its Huddersfield away a TV match so we will be playing, CRAZY

We can only have a maximum of 3 England players selected and for what it's worth, I don't think we'll have 3.

As for Samoa, we have no obligation to release players for them.

I think it will only be Gale who goes. Possibly not even him.

Hardaker too actually.

It is crazy but not as bad as in cricket when Yorkshire have 3 or 4 of their players missing all season. It could be, depending on the selections, that Huddersfield have more missing than us, so we could benefit.

Can't see past Widdop and Williams in the halves and I think Bennett is much more likely to recall Matty Smith than select Gale given how he played him last year.

Hardaker is probably a given but that's the only one.

This. Williams and Widdop will start. Matty Smith or Luke will be there to make numbers up. Hardaker will go.

For me the only player I'd 100% take is hardacer I think Gale is a great team player for us but I don't see him been the best international halves we have. I think Gale is one of the best halves we could have as we all suit the style of play but I can't see England playing our way as it is at the moment. Think Meeks has too many quiet moments just at the moment for me too and shenny is a fair bit away for me.

Agree betts.
Mcmeeken seems to have gone into his shell.
Shenny imo wont make the cut at all.
Gale going through a poor patch at the.min.
Only hardaker looking like his pre 2016 best.

Roberts just now is our better half back.

In what way were Englands half backs improved in the Four Nations by dropping Gale for the thrashing by Australia?

I don't disagree in the main but it did sound like Matty Smith had Gale in his back pocket on Monday.

The Saints pack won the battle up front which usually dictates which half backs prosper!!

Gale thrives being the leader. At England the Leader will be Williams and Widdop. If Gale doesnt go it means we can use him against Huddersfield so its no problem.

Don't think we were ever improved by the whole merry go round half back situation we had but I do think while bennet is in charge he will always prefer a Matty smith over a Luke Gale type player smith makes much less errors in his game imo

Funnily enough I agree about Matty Smith but don't forget Bennett gave Gale 4 matches in the autumn including the France match
He didn't pick Smith at all.

Even saints and Wigan fans will tell you Gale is the better half (over smith not Williams ) , but as whole team England don't have the natural skill set for Gale to show his best . He needs players like Junior , Jesse and Millo to run the lines and create the space and who have England got ? Bateman is a quality second row but a different player to Jesse . We have no forward in the country as good as Moors .

But the record shows Bennett has not picked Smith and only gone with Widdop and Williams once for the thumping by Australia
He has only dropped Gale once and still has him in the squad, so what's the evidence he's now out in the cold?
