Wigan game postponed due to there being a football match and the football match is deemed to be more important according to the statement released by Ian Leneghan.
The game against Cronulla last week and the weather this week means the pitch won't take an RL game tomorrow and football on Saturday

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
The pitch was terrible last week and how many rugby matches have been played on it since last September???
Seems pretty clear to me which of the 2 sports that wrecks the pitch.

From Goons RLFans :-
Just walked past the DW and the pitch looked immaculate, I couldn't even see any standing water. They even had them sunlight machines on it.
Is it just a convenient excuse to get us a week off after the WCC?

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Looking at the hull fc pitch, which also as football played on it, looks pretty good.
I think Wigan are pulling the wool.
So what's the RFL gonna do about it.
IMO Wigan should have 2 points deducted.
Over to you RFL, grow some.

For me not deducted but they should forfeit the points to Widnes.old cas lass wrote:Looking at the hull fc pitch, which also as football played on it, looks pretty good.

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Seems strange a pitch is deemed unplayable 24 hours early due to it being waterlogged. Also surely, a qualified official has got to inspect it so as to make sure that a team are not using it as an excuse because of injuries to their players.
A groundsman can in his wisdom, give his opinion whether he thinks the pitch is unfit to be used, but his opinion doesn't hold up if the match official says it is playable.
Something doesn't ring true and underhand ploys are being used.
Catalans did this a couple of seasons back by watering their pitch for hours before their game V Hull, this was their 1st game of the season. Players not match fit ???
Sadly Hull and their supporters had travelled over.

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Wigan athletic playing on it Saturday they get priority. Apparently wigan fans have said it's cheap turf built on Marsh land. Disgusting they didn't inform widnes or invite them into discussions.

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
They read out on sky that it was a decision by the football team (ground owners) that the rugby couldn't go ahead as their football match the day after takes precedent. The RFL need to look into this and ground sharing issues
Long live the Tigers!!!

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Wigan should forfeit the points instead of it being re-arranged. Nothing wrong with the pitch and using football as an excuse shouldn't be sufficient.

Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Time for Wigan and all those that moan about Cas having the worst ground in RL start thinking about having a ground of their own.
Re: Wire Game now live on SKY....
Like I said earlier why don't they exchange fixtures play at Widnes on they ALL WEATHER pitch then play at Wigan later in the season
