Re: wakey sunday
I never understand why people get so irate over pre season games.i saw plenty enough in the first 40 to suggest we are well on our way to been ready for the start of the season. It looks to me like St. Helens will be where we put it all together in pre season and see a proper 80 minute trial game.
IMO Wakefield are much improved this year but they still arnt at our level has much has some of there supporters would like to think they are.credit to darryl for showing faith in so many youngsters which is refreshing to see although it appears to have upset some of our own narrow minded supporters that only see the final result has important.
It's a very exciting time to be a Cas fan and I for one can't wait for it to kick off against Leigh

The youngsters that took part in the second wouldn't have benefited a great deal from what happened for me

It has felt like the longest off-season ever. I am starving over here and agree that Leigh game cannot come quick enough.braytontiger wrote:I never understand why people get so irate over pre season games.i saw plenty enough in the first 40 to suggest we are well on our way to been ready for the start of the season. Re: wakey sunday
The youngsters will be disappointed that they did not hold on to the league but they will have benefited from the experience.
If they had been taken off that would have dented their confidence.
They gained valuable experience in a match that is not season defining.
So if they' are thrown in to the fray when it matters their teammates will have an idea of their capabilities they will also not be overwhelmed by the occasion.
Yes bragging rights would be good
But I would rather have them at the end of the season.
I am glad Daryl kept his bottle.

At the end of the day its a friendly and means nothing if you come through without any injuries thats a bonus salford lost two of there starters on sunday one may be out for a couple of months..i thought it would have helped the kids confidence if some of the starters had stayed on a bit longer

On the wakey forum someone saw a couple of there players leaving in boots, they might not be anything serious but it's still going into the season with a few niggles

Re: wakey sunday
to be fair mate 2 of the first 6 you've named regularly get slagged off on the wakey board as not being good enough. out of the 3 young'uns you've named I really rate moules and think he has a good future but you would have to be really struggling with injuries for the other 2 to get in. just my opinionWakeyfan wrote:Jowitt, Gibson, England, Fifita, Molloy and Annakin were missing for Wakefield (regular fist teamers) plus Mazive, Moules and Morris.

Re: wakey sunday
Out of all of them. Only fifita would get a game and that's in the 17 not starting.
Re: wakey sunday
Is there anyone in the Wakefield squad who would breake into our 17? Maybe Johnson but so far I'm liking the look of Eden and Minikin.

Don't agree.mart0042 wrote:Out of all of them. Only fifita would get a game and that's in the 17 not starting.
I think Jowitt would probably be better than Grix at full back - he's not good enough any more.
If you're looking at their bench I think Fifita and England would probably come in for Hirst and Walker and probably Annakin may get on the bench. Like ourselves, they have a bit of depth and the ability to rotate players. I see Wakefield where we were the season after Powell took over when we recruited for depth with players like Gibson, Channing etc. Solid platform to build from.
If you look at their team:
Jowitt, Jones-Bishop, Caton-Brown, Lyne, Johnstone, Williams, Finn, Huby, Wood, Allgood, Ashurst, Kirmond, Arona
Interchange - Sio, Fifita, England, Annakin

Given our defence, I think anyone would look decent in that second half.tigerfeat wrote:id not seen kid before but batchelor looked like hed make a decent player...

Re: wakey sunday
Hi Lurcher. The reason they get criticism is because they are regular first teamers, no one slags off players that dont play.lurcher wrote:to be fair mate 2 of the first 6 you've named regularly get slagged off on the wakey board as not being good enough. out of the 3 young'uns you've named I really rate moules and think he has a good future but you would have to be really struggling with injuries for the other 2 to get in. just my opinionWakeyfan wrote:Jowitt, Gibson, England, Fifita, Molloy and Annakin were missing for Wakefield (regular fist teamers) plus Mazive, Moules and Morris.
Its all about opinions as to who is or is not good enough and i guess we all have our preferences.

Quite a fair assessment Hudds.HuddsTigers wrote:Don't agree.mart0042 wrote:Out of all of them. Only fifita would get a game and that's in the 17 not starting.

Our first 17 is still debatable as a few players who might not have been expected to be in there have staked a good claim for a spot in the friendlies.
My guess would be
grix, Caton-brown,lyne, Tupou, Johnstone, Williams, Finn, England, Wood, Fifita, Ashurst, Kirmond, Arona.
Sio, Allgood, Huby, Bachelor
Not the team i would personally pick, but the one i think we will get
Which still leaves out players like Millar, Jowitt and BJB etc.
Re: wakey sunday
Thought Caton brown was dire against us and thought walker was pretty good at forward for them really got stuck in also would rather have max jowitt in my team than Scott grix

Sorry, I referring to a game at cas. I think that some of them would have made the first 17 for wakeyWakeyfan wrote:Quite a fair assessment Hudds.HuddsTigers wrote:Don't agree.mart0042 wrote:Out of all of them. Only fifita would get a game and that's in the 17 not starting.

Re: wakey sunday
I think jowitt is the better full back but chesters hand was forced a bit last year through injuries. young max's performances dropped off a bit towards the end of the season and I think his coach will try to rotate with grix to avoid burning out a very promising young player.
