Squad Numbers

Post by Show 'n' Go » 09 Nov 2016, 20:22

Okay, so just for a bit of fun, what do people believe the squad numbers are going to be? Will be interesting to see who gets the 1 and 6 shirt. And if Denny leaves and we go with what we've got, who takes over the 5 shirt?

Surprising to see a lot of people (not just on this thread) have chase in the 13 in place of Roberts, for me a fully fit Roberts is more beneficial to our team than a fully fit chase, I think DP will rotate the two somehow to keep them fresh but of course that leads to a lack of stability in the halves, Interesting times ahead and refreshing to have a dilemma of that calibre for DP, providing they stay injury free of course

If ash Robson doesn't get the wing shirt in front of monoghan I'll be surprised Joel showed last year he's in his swan song and I don't envisage he will play much next year all been well imo

Think Chase should get the 6 shirt as I doubt Roberts will be anywhere near ready to play before June. Massey will still get the 13 and Monaghan will have a top season for us with the no.2 shirt on.

I personally would put Roberts and Gale at halves mcshane at nine but what do people think about giving Milner the number 13 shirt and Rangi on bench he can cover alllpositions from 1-6-7-or9 I think teams would find it difficult to deal with Milner is so quick what he lacks in size we gain in speed just a thought just wondered what others think

As loose forwards play a different role to days gone bye Adam is perfect to play at 13

You don't have to worry about Roberts he won't start playing till the warm weather arrives. Zak at 1 Rangi at 6 and Gale at 7 for start of the season.

I must be one of the old school but I honestly cant see what squad numbers bring to the game, when they were first introduced we were told it would increase shirt sales, I can see no evidence of this, on the down side anyone new to the game must have trouble understanding the game, how can you explain to some one our fullback is Number one but watch there fullback he is number 33, internationals are 1 to 17 I wish the club games were the same

Squad Numbers will all honesty probably not change much from last season, except some rearranging down the bottom order and replacing those people that have left.

1. Hardaker
2. Monaghan
3. Shenton
4. Webster
5. Eden
6. Roberts
7. Gale
8. Lynch
9. Milner
10. Millington
11. Holmes
12. McMeeken
13. Massey
14. Jesse Sene-Lefao
15. Paul McShane
16. Matt Cook
17. Junior Moors
18. Larne Patrick
19. Gadwin Springer
20. Greg Minikin
21. Will Maher
22. Rangi Chase
23. Tom Holmes
24. Ash Robson
25. Jy Hitchcox
26. Tuoyo Egodo
27. Daniel Igbenidion
28. Kieran Gill
29. Brandon Westerman
30. Conor Fitzsimmons
31. Brandon Douglas
32. Luke Million
33. Declan Sheehan

Not sure on the loanees that have gone out. I assume we may allocate Maher and Hitchcox ones in case we need to recall them but I think there will be a no recall option for Crooks.

It looks a big squad Hudds but we have 6 of those mentioned above now out on loan - which is quite alarming IMO.

Crooks, Hitchcox, Maher, T.Holmes, Gill and Fitzsimmons.

I agree on this. 1-17 on match day much better. The only disadvantage, I suppose, is that it wouldn't help with youngsters wanting their favourite players name/number printed on the back of their shirt.

Wikipedia is user submitted. Think a person has just edited the list from last year and replaced outgoing with those coming in :)

My hope with the half back situation is That DP doesn't try to fit round pegs in square holes.for me it's either chase or Roberts to partner Gale and the other misses out of the 13.roberts to 13 or chase hooker whatever as been suggested shouldn't happen.i don't see a place on the pitch for all 3 at the same time if everyones fit.

I think Roberts would make a great ball handling 13 in the style of vowels who also came to the club as a six he hits hard in defence breaks tackles going forward. See gaps puts people in space and can kick in open play. Are these not all the attributes of a loose forward?
