Agree. 1973. That's how it looked both live and on TV
Ale was much busier over the full 80 than Williams too

I only saw it live as I forgot to set my planner to record it, but thats the way I saw it too. Gale threw a couple of bad passes and lost his way a little a couple of times, but was the busier and stood up in defence yet again. I know it probably won't happen, but same again for me against the Aussies in the halves with maybe Widdop at fullback

Gale set up the two tries in the first half when Scotland were pretty much on top. Williams came to the fore in the second half as Scotland tired, just as Brown did against France. Australia WILL NOT tire!
Gale must play and Hodgson needs to be old that he is the hooker, and his job is to get the ball out quickly, so that the creative players such as Gale can create!

Rather just see DC at hooker tbh.

Widdop to full back, Gale and Williams in the halves.
Seems odd to name 4 halves in the 19 IF he is going to drop two of them.

Kevin Brown against Australia when he hasn't played for months? I like him as a player but he is nowhere near the level of Gale or Widdop in Super League.

I meant Gale and Williams.
Moreover, we stand no chance of winning tournaments when we use three different half back combinations in three games.
NZ - Widdop and Gale.
Scotland - Gale and Williams
Australia - Widdop and Brown.
He needs to decide who his best two halves are and let them develop a combination. That only comes with playing competitive games.

You never win anything without a settled half back partnership as we found out to our costs this season.

However it really wouldn't surprise me if the Aussies took it a little bit easy today, we nick it by a couple and they give us the customary shoeing next week.

Can't believe Bennett has picked Brown today . Fair enough to drop Gale as even as a biased cas fan I thought he should be dropped . But if he wants 'superstar' widdop as his organiser , surely Williams is the choice as his partner. 3 different combinations in the 4 nations is ridiculous , how can you get a settled team ?? And no Clarke ?! Bring back McNamara lol

In some ways i am Gale sat the game out. He will have learnt lots watching Cronk & Thurston from the side lines. Also does Cameron Smith ever have a bad game?...his decision making is always on the money.

I wonder who the fans will make a scapegoat of now.
Least when gale played the defence was far better.

At least we could have given it a go! Wayne Bennett, more like Alan Bennett!

I was thinking Gordon Bennett when I saw the team he selected!

No worse than when an English coach was in charge.
