According to the Cas & Ponte Express the council have rejected Laterals latest submission to vary the scheme - god knows where that leaves us.

here we go, what are the variations Lateral want & why would the council reject them when they were so behind the scheme. York city & York knights have had the same problem with the main contractors altering the plans etc.
perhaps its time for an update from lateral or some questions at the "meet the directors" night ???

they wanted to build a number of smaller retail units which the council thought would impact negatively on the town centre.they were only suggested amendments from lateral who have now withdrawn the suggested amendments. we still have m+s primark and next signed up.

Whilst that is correct I am not sure its quite as simple as you say. The reason they wanted the change was that no one is interested in taking food space in the original with all the supermarkets struggling. So they now are left with something they cannot let so will have to come up with another idea but this could delay everything again as far as I can see.

They won't build anything if they can't make it stack up financially

Exactly, whilst they have to build the stadium first they don't have to build anything until the contracts are signed and sealed on enough of the site to financially enable it to happen. So should not enough companies sign on the dotted line then the stadium, along with everything else, doesn't get built.

I can't make the "meet the Directors" night, but it goes without saying, that I am sure the people are, will be asking for an update from both parties on the latest situation and if the withdrawal of the proposed amendments has put the project further back.

Wasn't Chesterfield being the model the old Waystone site? The new one is meant to be like Rotherham?

Or have I got things mixed up/plans have changed?

You're mixed up.

The club went to a number of different stadia for Waystone but they have always had good links with Chesterfield. They went down to view Chesterfield's on Friday again and to see how they did their hospitality.

Rotherham's Stadium cost £20 million. The CAS ground will be a lot less !
