What now with the stadium.
So now we all know who are in government for the next 5 years.
What's everyone's thoughts on where we are with the stadium.
When will we heard anything.
Will we be successful.
Or will it be put back again.
Worrying times imo.

A development that will create 2000 jobs,no reason why it should be knocked back

No doubt in my mind that it will be called-in. I truly hope not but can't see it being approved without going to Mr Pickles.

Re: What now with the stadium.
i did hear cameron spouting about a week ago that no more houses would be built on green belt. this isn't a housing scheme though so we could be ok with the jobs aspect. you never know though, they've always liked kicking mining communities.

A greenbelt business park was rejected near Coventry recently, it was claimed it would have created 10,000 jobsthe machine wrote:A development that will create 2000 jobs,no reason why it should be knocked back

Our area has the next potential Labour leader. Hope that doesn't go against us.

who ever is the s o s will look at all the plans and he can pass it or call it in
but the council have asked the s o s to back the plans so i think it will just get the rubber stamp and off we go

Celebrations abound on the Wakey forum as now they are claiming that it was them that swung it against Ed Balls!
Back to reality though I think we can be pretty optimistic about our stadium chances and will hear sooner rather than later fingers are crossed though!

Peel Holdings had a similar application turned down in Blackburn last year, they went to the High Court but it still got knocked back.casfanfromcov wrote:A greenbelt business park was rejected near Coventry recently, it was claimed it would have created 10,000 jobsthe machine wrote:A development that will create 2000 jobs,no reason why it should be knocked back
Re: What now with the stadium.
It will go through the inquiry process because of the green belt issue. If Labour had got in then there might have been the chance it would have got handed back thanks to government influence but not now.duke street 10 wrote:Out of spite?...or a genuine reason? The Firm wrote:The tories getting in has put another hurdle in the way. Re: What now with the stadium.
Just wondering what is the time scale on the next decision for us ? Now the election is over this shouldn't be too long. If it gets called in i'm pretty confident it will get passed but the next delay gives our rivals over the common a bit more time although, If they (WTW) don't get their act together on the pitch soon and are replaced in SL by Leigh they won't need a new home, will then be forced out of Belle Vue due to the hefty rent. The end.

Re: What now with the stadium.
it amazes me how many people on here and on the Wakey Forum think that that potential new stadiums for two Rugby League teams have even the slightest impact on national politics.
The planning application will be handled the same now as it would have been before the election. It's academic who won the election or who will be the next Labour Leader - The application will be judged on its merits and the decision made accordingly. The Civil Servants who will do the heavy work in the process are apolitical and the outcome - whichever way it goes - has to be based on sound judgement. The last thing anyone, even the SoS, wants are expensive legal battles because they cannot quantify their decision against national policy.
All we can do is hope.

Complete opposite to Ed and isn't tainted by previous Labour regimes.
