It feels weird

Post by Tamworth Tiger » 15 Oct 2014, 15:35

For as long as I can remember this forum has been hot at this time of year with speculation about who was leaving, who the new kids on the block are going to be etc
This year, other than a bit of speculation around the edges on Owen and Tansey, it's incredibly quiet. Nothing seems imminent on the stadium, there's no franchises, so other than seeing how our Samoans perform next week, there's not a lot to get excited about.
I'm going to have to get a life for the next 3 months!

All the signings have be announced.
Players leaving all been announced and now gone.

Gonna be a long long 3 months, least we have a game on boxing day.

How about pre season and when will the new players join up with the club.

Fixtures out sunday so we can speculate the first 5 games and how many points we should/could have.
Roll on feb.

the very fact that there are so many different opinions on our starting line up shows what a good squad we have again, and every variation has its merits.

In regards to tansy he staying according to a player. And solamona mayb used in the centre and Webster moving to second row. We have a shirt launch to look forward to plus planning concent. And a feeling a slow sponsorship release as last year 1 at a time. Bar internationals the player will be back training in the next few weeks. . If the transfers couldn't be done till off season it would make this time of year better it's a bit of a drag. Mayb the international will be a good watch

Ive just looked down each team list, and I have to say we have real quality in each position. Next year is going to be a big one for us, and I firmly believe we will continue to raise eyebrows.

My team would be:

Solomona
Clare
Webster
Shenton
Carney
Roberts
Gale
Lynch
Moore
Jewitt
Moors
Holmes
Millington

Bench: Cook/Massey, Boyle/Wheeldon, Milner/Finn, Mariano

I have chosen 2 players that could feature in 3 of the positions from the bench, only Mariano should retain his place on the bench. Crossley is an unknown for me, DP wanted him and got him signed early - this makes me think he could either be a squad player or make a big impact (at the moment I will leave him out).

Mmmmm...ive thought about Carney having the odd tilt at it a la Cunningham did at Saints

Though not in many folks thoughts i think Channing could do a job as a makeshift acting half. Foot feet. Decent distribution. Good tackling technique for a player of smaller physicallity.

Carney needs the ball much eatlier next season as well

The only time last season Carney played in a position other than wing was at centre in the SL match at Wigan. Not the time to shine as we were on the wrong end of a good hiding, but he was simply woeful & looked like a fish out of water. So no choice but to keep him in his rightful position &, as you say, get it out to him more often in attacking plays. And also hope that he's learned his lessons from his disciplinary record / bans & we get a full(er) season out of him.

The only change I would make regarding Carney is to give him more early ball when he`s in space. Not when shenny has ran into the line and is about to be tackled, by that time carney is more easily stopped.

hopefully Roberts/Gale can utilise him more.

also I seem to remember mid season at home attacking the wre, if I remember right, carney came in field behind the play (fullback like) we played the ball straight to him from dummy half and gave him a good run at the line. nothing came of It but it asked questions the defence.
