Re: It feels weird
My team would be:
Solomona
Clare
Webster
Shenton
Carney
Roberts
Gale
Lynch
Moore
Jewitt
Moors
Holmes
Millington
Bench: Cook/Massey, Boyle/Wheeldon, Milner/Finn, Mariano
I have chosen 2 players that could feature in 3 of the positions from the bench, only Mariano should retain his place on the bench. Crossley is an unknown for me, DP wanted him and got him signed early - this makes me think he could either be a squad player or make a big impact (at the moment I will leave him out).

Re: It feels weird
Can't we rotate Carney and Webster at hooker and just let then scoot everytime!
Re: It feels weird
Mmmmm...ive thought about Carney having the odd tilt at it a la Cunningham did at SaintsWf10Tiger wrote:Can't we rotate Carney and Webster at hooker and just let then scoot everytime!
Though not in many folks thoughts i think Channing could do a job as a makeshift acting half. Foot feet. Decent distribution. Good tackling technique for a player of smaller physicallity.
Carney needs the ball much eatlier next season as well

Re: It feels weird
The only time last season Carney played in a position other than wing was at centre in the SL match at Wigan. Not the time to shine as we were on the wrong end of a good hiding, but he was simply woeful & looked like a fish out of water. So no choice but to keep him in his rightful position &, as you say, get it out to him more often in attacking plays. And also hope that he's learned his lessons from his disciplinary record / bans & we get a full(er) season out of him.ERG2012 wrote:Mmmmm...ive thought about Carney having the odd tilt at it a la Cunningham did at SaintsWf10Tiger wrote:Can't we rotate Carney and Webster at hooker and just let then scoot everytime!

Re: It feels weird
The only change I would make regarding Carney is to give him more early ball when he`s in space. Not when shenny has ran into the line and is about to be tackled, by that time carney is more easily stopped.
hopefully Roberts/Gale can utilise him more.
also I seem to remember mid season at home attacking the wre, if I remember right, carney came in field behind the play (fullback like) we played the ball straight to him from dummy half and gave him a good run at the line. nothing came of It but it asked questions the defence.

1 Dorn.
2 Dixon.
3 Shenton.
5 Webster.
5 Carney.
6 Roberts.
7 Gale.
8 Lynch.
9 Milner
10 Boyle.
11 Moors.
12 Holmes
13 Millington.
14 Jewitt
15 Moore
16 Mariano
17 Massey
18 Clare
19 Wheeldon
20 Finn
21 Tansey
22 Macmeeken
23 Cook
14 Channing
25 Gibson
26 Crossley
27 Reynolds
28 Mare
I don't think I would tinker too much with the backs at the moment they all did a good job last season, and the rest will be fighting for a shirt, and pushing the ones in possession a push.

Re: It feels weird
Very little game time this coming year for Dicko, I will however miss the pinpoint accuracy of his restarts............as will my good friend Johnson.
‘What words of wisdom will Dennis share this time...?'

Re: It feels weird
I,ve got a feeling that Steve Crossley could be this years surprise package. A number of my Fev fan friends cant speak highly enough of him, and all of them think he was the better prop when playing alongside Anthony England. The general consensus is that he is big, strong, plays long minutes and has a good offload game. Think we will see plenty of him.

Re: It feels weird
I don't get the criticism of the kick offs? Tackle them on 10m-15m out every time. High and deep to give chance to get up there. What more could you want from a kick off?
Obviously odd short one when we're behind near the end maybe.

Re: It feels weird
Restarts and K.Os are all about practise.
high and long hang time
dropping on or 1yard over try line not 5yd in the field of play

Re: It feels weird
I agree, its a no brainer, all you need is that one error from your opponents & your on the front foot, at worst they have to clear their line & if our defence isn't there, they score at tuther end of the field ](*,) its all if's & but's!cabbageprince wrote:I don't get the criticism of the kick offs? Re: It feels weird
I dont even think its that, its because its the exact same spot every time, be nice just to see him kick to the otherside once in a while

Take the wife or girlfriend for a valentine weekend to France. Watch the boys take on Catalan what more could she ask for.
Re: It feels weird
I too think it could be varied from time to time, but its just a safe option & the pressure is on the receiver, my heart is always in my mouth when we collect from a deep kick off especially when the first pass isn't taken clean or we then have a winger trying to clear our line which isn't always the best idea in my mind.the machine wrote:I dont even think its that, its because its the exact same spot every time, be nice just to see him kick to the otherside once in a while

Dont even think theres much pressure tbh,hes that accurate the receiver doesnt even have to move to catchnthe ballyorky wrote:I too think it could be varied from time to time, but its just a safe option & the pressure is on the receiver, my heart is always in my mouth when we collect from a deep kick off especially when the first pass isn't taken clean or we then have a winger trying to clear our line which isn't always the best idea in my mind.the machine wrote:I dont even think its that, its because its the exact same spot every time, be nice just to see him kick to the otherside once in a while
