Not a bad side that.
I don't agree with much that has been said about Finn and would swap him and Ellis round, but other than that, looks good

If Carney is fit I'd go with:

Dorn
Clare
Shenton
Webster
Dixon/Carney
Sneyd/Ellis
Finn
Huby
Clark
Lynch
Holmes
Hauraki
Millington

Ellis/Milner
Jewitt
Massey
Mariano

I would drop Dorn he has done very little the last few matches and I don't think Finn deserves to be in the team either,Clare to fullback and Ellis to scrum half.

Having read all this, why tinker so much? Dorn to half back, Clare to full back etc. yes Ellis / Sneyd / Finn adjustment for who's on form, but don't rearrange what has been a succesful structure too much. Saints will be tough but are lacking their first choice players in a few key positions at the moment, so let's play like we can! COYF!

Dorn/Sneyd (sadly Tansey has not had enough recent game time to be considered IMO)
Clare (assume Carney is still out)
Shenton
Webster (Channing if Webbo injured)
Dixon
Ellis
Finn
Huby
Clark
Lynch
Holmes
Huraki
Millington

Sneyd/Dorn/Milner
Jewitt
Massey
Mariano

I feel that Ellis deserves the start more than Sneyd or Dorn, based on last week's performance. For me, Sneyd/Dorn although classy players, may be low on confidence after making too many errors against Catalans (I think far more errors than Finn who seems to get bagged on anyway for some reason).

I'd like to see a versatile back on the bench for cover AND rotation with Clark (Ellis can move to 9 if Sneyd/Dorn come on). Last week I feel we got exposed badly when we moved Holmes to center, through no fault of Holmes. Milner deserves a place too, but I worry about our ability to cover an injury in the backs in that case.

Most importantly, I hope the boys can forget last week and roar back, as a team, and with the fans behind them. I am sure they are disappointed. Onwards and Upwards to continue what has been a fantastic season, albeit with 2 bitter disappointments. COYF!

Oh well we'll just play 18 vs 17 and beat him as well don't give him a reason to give penalties. Win the floor like we were doing at the start of the season in both attack and defence and play on the front foot and don't let off the gas like we did at home. We should have never let them get close enough for that knock on to matter.

And I know if it was as easy to do as it is to say we would all be coaches

Alex Walmsley banned for 1 match for Grade B careless high tackle. Charge downgraded after being found not guilty of Grade C shoulder charge

We need finn to do the nitty gritty to allow ellis/sneyd a free reign

I'd go with the jackknife/Tamworth Tiger option. I think Clare's shown enough to get the nod over Dixon. We need to go back to the style we played earlier in the season with the hookers/halves backing up the half breaks & offloads from Huby & Millington then getting it out to the backs. If we play like that with a decent kicking game & blitz them from the start we've a great chance. It seems to me we've done better when we've come out all guns blazing than when we've started conservatively.

My brother in law may have a couple of standing tickets for tomorrow night as his mate can't go.
So if anyone would prefer them rather than pay on the gate drop me a pm.

I'd start Finn , sneyd, and ellis and use Clark off the bench. When Clark comes on make a point of increasing the rook speed. the rest will come once we get on the front foot and space to play.
Millo and chubbs will be better for last week and jewitt just needs to keep doing what he's doing.

The big positive is saints are not world beaters.

However if we don't find some of what got us into the top four it will be another disappointing night

Jeez, I hope we're not going to be as disappointed tomorrow as the Giants' fans tonight! We need a good performance - win or lose! Unlike Huddersfield!
