Glad to see both Westerman & Shenton getting recognised as worth a place in the England squad.

Lambs to the slaughter. The kangaroos will have little trouble disposing of that lot. Unfortunately the names are predictable because of the dearth of English talent in SL.

I guess that's why the Aussies are 4/1 on, what a none event!

Well done to Shenton and Joe for making the 40.

I was kind of worried it would be between Atkins and Shenny but obviously he's nicked it

40 man squad is good but i would love to see Shenny and Joe be knocking about in the 17 for the games!

Especially Joe!

Depends if it is true. Tony Smith has refused to released the list but it turns up in a Hotel in Manly??? Hope it is true, but I shall wait for something more official.

S Briscoe, R Burrow, K Brown, T Clubb, M Diskin, P Deacon, G Ellis, P Fox, S Fielden, M Fa’assavalu, A Gardner, J Graham,
M Gleeson, L Gilmour, G Hock, J Jones-Buchanan, J Langley,
A Lynch, A Morley, D McGuire, L McCarthy-Scarsbrook, T Newton,
S O’Laughlin, L Pryce, J Peacock, R Purdham, G Raynor, J Roby,
L Smith, K Senior, M Shenton, K Sinfield, P Sykes, D Tickle,
J Westerman, D Washbrook, P Wellens, B Westwood, J Wilkin,
K Yeaman

The ones i have put in bold i would not have in the England team.

There are plenty better players than some of these named in here.

Also Fa'assavalu should not be in a GB shirt never mind England but thats not my place to discuss.

We've had this argument before on here, but for me he's only marginally different to KP as England Cricket captain and nobody seems bothered about that.

So who's the better English wingers than Peter Fox? Ade Gardner yes but on form I don't think I'd pick Raynor. Who else is there?

Didn't realise i highlighted Fox!

Your right he is better than Raynor, well on this seasons spectical anyway.

But knowing TS he will pick Raynor has he's seen him so many times in a GB shirt.

Thats why the centres will be Senior and Gleeson, not because of what they've done this year but because of who they are and who they play for!

2 years ago Senior was on the way out and Yeaman was at the top of his game, the tables have turned somewhat though.

Remember that's only the 40-man train on squad - if true.

If Joe doens't get in to the 40 man squad and then the prelimanery squad then there's something drastically wrong!

Is anybody actually bothered about this World Cup?

Im as fussed as i am for the Olympics - its a waste of fresh air.

Do ya think the players are bothered? they should stick with the Try-Nations, I actually felt the need to support them and got excited about it when it was GREAT BRITAIN. Now with Aussies playing for America, Scotland etc, its just a joke, it really is.

Stevo goes on about how great this game is, the thing is, the whole world will laugh at us.

Australia and New Zealand have always been the big guns in international Rugby League, Great Britain have too. Now with it being changed to ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, IRELAND, WALES, it dampens our hopes and leaves us less strength, where as the Aussies and Kiwi's are just the same as before.

RFL is a joke when they talk about this world cup. The Qualifiers was a joke, was anybody bothered about not qualifying?

I hope to god i am proved wrong, but in all honesty, I wont make an effort to get up early and watch it.

But all the same, I hope Joe and Michael give it their all and just show that Cas does have talent.

Be honest, how many Irish, Welsh and Scottish players would have got in a GB side.

At present the only one I can really suggest is Brough. So making it England doesn't dampen any hopes IMO.

As for the World Cup, its a rare event and is staged in the right place where it'll get the right presentation. Last time it was over here, it came across as a poor mans sport which needed hiding away on BBC2.......

Read my post before that mate, not suggesting them as teams are making it at all.
