How can we strengthen application, they got handed in on 31st marchSkip wrote:Well Toulouse's website says they've been given 6/10 - B Licence status. Guaranteed a SL franchise...
Which means that out of the 19 places (on application strength, note 2 expected variables for Wigan and Catalans, and Leighs application modified to a C as the boots n' all rating didn't take into account only 1 stadium being allowed for the application):
Leeds A
St Helens A
Hull A
Warrington A
Wigan B
Bradford B
Widnes B
Huddersfield B
Salford B
Harlequins B
Toulouse B
Catalans B
Hull KR C
Celtic Crusaders C
Featherstone Rovers C
Leigh C
Castleford C
Wakefield C
Halifax C
Now if this is the case... You can expect the RFL to take all A's, B's, which equals:
Leeds
St Helens
Hull
Warrington
Wigan
Bradford
Widnes
Huddersfield
Salford
Harlequins
Toulouse
Catalans
And if this is the case, that's 12 teams, meaning 2 places are up for grabs between:
Hull KR
Celtic Crusaders
Featherstone Rovers
Leigh
Castleford
Wakefield
Halifax
As you can see, something will have to give. If these scorings by boots n' all are close to correct and the RFL are refusing to expand to 16 teams... I am expecting an SL club to miss out somewhere along the line. Let's hope that we strengthen our application and ensure a B licence, and ensure it's not us eh?
14 teams
To my knowledge, the applications will be investigated soon. By this point, clubs may have improved their facilities etc and that should be taken into account...
Otherwise the RFL could have made their decision already.
There would have to be some sort of meeting with each club to discuss their applications - an interview as it were.
Then the RFL will go from there I guess...
If not - then it's going to be tight. I still expect an existing SL club to possibly fall foul if Boots n' All's application ratings are correct...

i see where your coming from and agree with you that if the franchise is based the same as the boots and all ratings then we are in hot water.
but the ones ive seen on the sky sports website with nigella presenting are pretty laughable with some of the points that tehy come up with for certain clubs. and dont even stick to the criteria of sticking to where clubs are at now and where they will be come the next time they have to decide on franchise applications.
i am 100 percent certain we are in the clear.

Meanwhile, Iestyn Harris has not ruled out the possibility of joining the Crusaders as a player if they are granted a three-year Super League licence next month.
The Bridgend club are thought to be vying with Salford and Widnes for one of two vacancies when Super League is expanded to 14 teams from 2009 and, if successful, would be looking to bolster their squad.
"It's certainly a possibility but it's early days," said Harris.
"Maybe in a month or so I can start to think about next year."

It's boots n all's estimate, which by the looks of it are way off the mark.TIGER DAZ wrote:Where did you get this information, mate?Skip wrote:Well Toulouse's website says they've been given 6/10 - B Licence status. Guaranteed a SL franchise...

How have likes of Widnes got a B status.
They dont turn over 4 million
Theyve barely got any youngsters
There not solvent
They dont contribute to competition
Dont fill to capacity
Not within 20 miles of a club
THATS 6 THAT THEY DONT HAVE GIVING THEM 4 POINTS SAME AS GROUP C STATUS!
These cannot be correct surely?

Solvency - sadly the boots n all criteria (and no doubt those of the RFL) give more weight to the fact Widnes are now bank rolled by a local millionaire, than the fact they went into administration after the GF last year.WHELDON-ROAD-END wrote:How have likes of Widnes got a B status.

Don't know about the rest, but if the boots n all report was anything to go by then it's a fair score.

Angela Powers is clearly on another planet and appeared to give away free random points to some clubs.
Celtic getting a point for junior development was equally as bizarre as Salford getting one for contributing to Super League and Leigh getting one for running at 40% capacity.

Agreed mate. When i've been watching Boots 'n' All, shes been very leniant to some teams rather than others.Angela Powers is clearly on another planet and appeared to give away free random points to some clubs.

Yeah fair enough shes giving her opinion on what she thinks but at end of the day it's not down to her.
Hmm you would think so, alas not . We may have scraped in but don't hold your breath, the RFL want merger with Cas Wakey, ground or clubs .solsfire wrote:The criteria that they are working on is for the 2012 season, not this.
Maybe they don't want to stand down because they want to rectify the mistakes they've made in seasons gone by.
This is true, but if all she is doing is looking at each clubs application and getting word from the horses mouth so to speak about the angle they are using for their application... Then it won't be too far from the truth now will it? And if that's the case... We are taking a massive risk if we don't ensure we have a B licence application...
Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow?
