As last year proved, it's about peaking/performing when it matters. As long as we're in the top 4 by the end of the Super 8's anything can happen from then.

cogito ergo sum wrote:Some stats for last year make interesting reading, if only to ask if we were "worked out".

First half of 2017, points for 537, against 254, average win 36-17 (rounded up)

Second half of 2017, 428 for 282 against, average win 28-19.

That indicates were were more effective in the first half, so why was that? Will that carry through to this year?
Or maybe it’s because the Super 8s (additional games against the better teams) come at the end of the season, therefore the points for and against are much closer???

Thanks for that a good read, only 9 sleeps to go till we can really test our selves, we could not have wished for a better test 23 years since we beat them over at Saints , i am very confident that we will turn them over this time

yes we are going to miss ZAK any team would, in is absence the club as done a good job in recruitment, strengthening in other departments , the bookies are taking no chances with CAS making us favorites to carry on where we left of last session , only time will tell i am with the bookies

But Roberts at full back won't be better than Zak. His defensive leadership from the back will be a huge miss. Not sure Roberts will be able to do that.

I really do hope Trueman gets the nod over Ellis. Trueman could be the future of the club if given his chance.

100% agree but somehow I think Ellis will start first couple.

Its great to see our youngsters coming through, but for our first match i would stick with Ellis he as a good kicking game and experience on his side, i am sure we will see Trueman turn out a number of times during the season the lad certainly looks the part

I don't see what Ellis brings apart from a strong kicking game (which we get from Gale anyway) Trueman has pace and can worry a tiring big Saints pack towards the end of each half.

Take the risk and play Trueman. I'm guessing both will be in the 19 before one is left out as 18th man.

Ellis' kicking game is alot better than gales, for all gale is good at is kicking at times is woeful

Strong kicking games can win games especially this time of year.

Very true but we have Gale and Roberts for that. Trueman brings something different and that's his speed.

Roberts can do a lot of things but his kicking game is not up to scratch.
I think Trueman might come off the bench or Ellis on the bench. Either way it’s a nice headache to have.

I know it was poor conditions Vs leeds but look how many dropouts we caused having Ellis in the squad. It's something we really aren't very good at usually.
