Mcshane try
Mcshane try
Go on then somebody has to explain that ine.
Kick goes up
Shenton knocks it back
Mcshane gets hand on it but kicks it before it hits ground
Mcshane kicks again and grounds the ball
Result = turnover
No idea how they came to that
Perfectly good try

Re: Mcshane try
The ball hit the ground before McShane kicked it so a knock on.
Its split second stuff but after Shenton passes it back it hits McShanes hand then the floor a second before he kicks it.

Re: Mcshane try
I watched it through a few times and from one angle it looked like it hit the floor first, from another it looked like it hit his boot first so another 50/50 call that went against usfords wrote:Shameless wrote:The ball hit the ground before McShane kicked it so a knock on.

Re: Mcshane try
It's the last angle on SKY that shows it. You cant actually see the ground but see the ball move slightly as it hits the deck just before his boot hits the ball. One of the few decisions they got right yesterday.fords wrote:Shameless wrote:The ball hit the ground before McShane kicked it so a knock on.

Sent up as no try and due to camera man looking like he had 1 too many Shandy's you couldn't tell if it hit ground first before he kicked it so has to go with on field decision.derbystiger wrote:I watched it through a few times and from one angle it looked like it hit the floor first, from another it looked like it hit his boot first so another 50/50 call that went against usfords wrote:Shameless wrote:The ball hit the ground before McShane kicked it so a knock on.

Sky final replay shows it, hits the floor. Knock on.
Re: Mcshane try

Re: Mcshane try
Even if it hits his boot, isn't a knock on? Doesn't it have to be a deliberate attempt or action to kick it.
Not even seen it or seen the game yet so can't comment but just an observation of the rules.

Re: Mcshane try
Bentham says knock on by Shenton after Hicks puts up no try on the screen so that's just clearly a wrong decision.
Re: Mcshane try
No he didn't. He said came off Shenton. (Palmed it back) the decision was not given for McShane knocking on. Ball just hitting floor before his foot.TheSheriff wrote:Bentham says knock on by Shenton after Hicks puts up no try on the screen so that's just clearly a wrong decision.
This doesn't matter anyway because if that wasn't given we probably would of never seen the piece of brilliance from Jy which was amazing so I'm glad it was no try.

Re: Mcshane try
A knock on is sometimes interpreted as the attacking player losing control of the ball. So even if Macca got a toe to the ball it wasnt intentional. I thought it was a try personally.
Re: Mcshane try
He knocked it on, simple
Re: Mcshane try
Catalan knock on j.s.l barges into greg bird bentham says to macca yes he did knock on first but even tho they knocked on he still has to have a chance to pick ball up ??

Re: Mcshane try
That's correct. The ball isn't dead until AFTER its been played again following a knock ontigerfeat wrote:Catalan knock on j.s.l barges into greg bird bentham says to macca yes he did knock on first but even tho they knocked on he still has to have a chance to pick ball up ??
Re: Mcshane try
Yeh the ball is still live until Catalan or a Cas player drops on it. JSL wiped Bird out before that. (No idea what he was thinking haha)tigerfeat wrote:Catalan knock on j.s.l barges into greg bird bentham says to macca yes he did knock on first but even tho they knocked on he still has to have a chance to pick ball up ??
Re: Mcshane try
I think he thought he would be the one to regather possession. Misread it I think, that's all.InTheKnow wrote:Yeh the ball is still live until Catalan or a Cas player drops on it. Re: Mcshane try
Hadn't Aiton already regathered it - in which case it was scrum Cas ball.
