I actually think a young player can look better in a smaller club, as their lack of stars gives said player more opportunity to shine.

Back to Dowie then.

Has an identical twin, perhaps he will be taking over at Charlton?

Sadly he actually has got an identical twin. Once saw them interviewed on local tv over here when Ian was at Oldham. It was quite freaky.

I cannot believe they have sacked him already

Just on sky sports news, Curbishley has ruled himself out of a return to Charlton.

One of the best managers in the league in my opinion and one of the most promising bosses in the game -- but charltons loss is someone elses gain

He won't be the first and isn't this year or the last manager to be sacked early on in the year. But with chairmen knowing about the fact that the team on the bottom at Christmas always goes down (apart from one occasion). The chairmen will feel the need to get rid early and try and change the fortune of the club.

Just read an interview with the Charlton chairman and to be fair it doesn't look as if they just panicked. They did a 2 week review of Dowies and the clubs performance since he arrived, which included interviewing every single member of the playing aond coaching staff before they made a decision. Which is a lot more sensible than what many clubs do.

True, however you'd have thought they would have also done their research prior to employing him as well.
