On Saturday I had Debece in the first which fell and brought down my back up choice, Wolf of Windlesham.
In the 2nd, Melinoe that didn't get a clear run but then stayed on into 2nd, not bad for its first run of the season and will likely win next time.
In the 3rd I had 4 bets all e/w. Act of Valour (RIP) that I reckon would have won had it not fallen. Chesterfield, Ashkoul and Optimus Prime; 2nd, 3rd & 4th!
In the next, Dancing Star which I think will have needed the run so is one to look for next time.
So Beloved - [REMOVED].
Breath Caught - slightly unlucky but still would have won if good imo.
Finally some proper jumping!
Looked in the car going over and Beggars Wishes stood out, couldn't believe it was 8/1 so I matched my Breath Caught stake e/w as I couldn't see 2 finishing in front of it and the only real danger I could see was Rocklander and that looked a pig in the paddock, hence the drift before the off, so I had a bit more on the win for Beggars Wishes. Could call it the winner turning in and could have won by 20l if it wanted - be interested in seeing what the handicapper does with it.
And in the last - I'm a big Jefferson fan anyway - but I'm sure I was the only one who had bothered looking because in November at Sedgefield Beggars Wishes had beaten a horse called Robbing The Prey by 1/2 a length off pretty much level weight. So RTP was always in my mind for this depending on how BW did previously. 17/2?! Unbe-[REMOVED]-lievable!! I had to look again for potential dangers in case I'd missed something obvious - nope. In I went, £100 to win on the course and £50 e/w online. Made all and never really looked like losing (bar idling on the run in, just to make me sweat!).
A lovely way to end the day!
Never been to Haydock before but it's a great course and the mixed meeting is a great idea imo - free tickets off the jockey club was a bonus! Highly recommended.
