I just found it remarkable that after 8 years of unpopular policies aimed at repairing the wrecked economy left by Labour and a not particularly strong PM we are still polling 7 points higher than Labour. Now that the good ship UK has been steered away from the rocks and is now sailing into more prosperous economic waters I just don’t see the great British public being daft enough to risk it all again by voting in another spend thrift Labour government.

You'd better believe it sweet cheeks!

Oh and if us loony lefties are out of our trees, what about yours and the Tory myth that the economy is booming? I keep reading and hearing that Britain has one of the slowest economy's in the world and I'm sure House of Fraser & Poundworld are toasting the economy as I type.

Still, Reece-Mogg has made a few quid in Russia...

Now come on Flatcapper, don't be laying the failure of the high street onto the Tories as you try to intimate ! This is as we all know online shopping on the internet that is the problem and would be exactly the same if Labour were in. Bit of a cheap shot really !

Corbyn and the rebel tories are weakening our position to leave the EU and that goes for the House of Lords ! - personally I think they all should be working to get the best deal done together.

Make no mistake that the EU is about to fracture with Italy, Greece, Hungary and a few others in deep doo doo and the quicker we exit to get on with making our own trade deals the better in front of EU countries who will eventually land up in the same position when the EU crashes - it's not sustainable !!

If we stayed in the EU like all these remoaners want , how much EU payment increase would we be expected to pay to keep bailing out these poorer EU countries in the future ? Best to get on with it, take the hit which there inevitably will be to economic growth in the short term but solidify for the future.

Capper needs to move into the 21st Century, the high street as we used to know it is finished and it has nothing to do with the economy it is a victim of changing shopping habits. A bit like the collieries which thankfully are now long gone things change as our economy and society moves on.

I do apologise; I forgot the Tory mantra; when it goes right, it's a Tory thing, when it goes wrong, it's everybody else's fault. I suppose it's only fair not to blame Labour for the massive collapse of the world economy due to the Tory supporting brigade lining their own pockets.

Some sections of the high street are booming but I'm sure the falling manufacturing output in Britain is also not the fault of the Tories. Think I saw on BBC news overnight that Landrover were moving production of the Discovery to Slovenia but I'm sure that's Jez's fault as well.

Oh, and if you care to check, growth in Italy is out pacing Britain's but lets not let the truth hide the Tory myth.

For what it's worth on our membership of the EU, I did vote remain but now that the vote has gone the other way I truly believe you should reap what you sow. No deal and get on with it. I suppose we can blame it on Labour when it all goes wrong.

That'll be a damn sight better that Theresa May (or may not) changing her mind on what seems like a hourly basis trying to keep both sides of her party in tow - who's towing who?

As for shin dig's, how's the Presidents Club doing these days?

How laughable was that event, 3000 there (more like 1500 actually) despite tickets being eventually free, they were desperate at the end and flung open the doors, tickets were £35 originally but they only sold a handful, then they got reduced to £10 and the unions bullied its members to go and laid on free buses (still didn't work), this is what happens when somebody's ego starts to get out of control, they were expecting 20,000  .... is this Jezzas kinnock falling in the sea moment???...... i sincerely hope so!!

Kinnock, another champagne socialist who’s family have made millions on the EU gravy train. I would say his beach fall was nothing compared to his 1992 Sheffield rally speech when he completely lost the plot.

The bubble does seem to have burst for old Jezza though, as you say their recent festival was pathetic with just a handful of Momentum and Trade Union bully boys in attendance.

It’s like Groundhog Day all over again.

Michael Foot, Neil Kinnock and now Jezza !!

Shame they aren’t holding last years election now !!

Labour ain’t getting in with him in charge - keep saying Yvette Cooper would make a very big difference and be the first lass in Labour to have a chance of getting in !

It doesn't matter which party is in as Labour and Tory are split down the middle as is the country and Corbyn would be having similar issues if he was in power as they are as split as the Tories !

The politics here is grinding the country to a halt - instead of bargaining with a strong hand, every persuasion is weakening it ! Total Idiots who can't see the wood for the trees !!

Whoever gets into power in the future will inherit such a weak position to trade from instead of a strong deal that should be in the making - that's the sad thing about the whole affair ! Nobody is gonna win from this the way it is being sabotaged left, right and centre !

Might as well we all stick our heads in a gas oven !

Rees Mogg and Yvette Cooper would be the leaders in my opinion to get this country moving again - Mogg is very astute and very intelligent to work out the plan for after Brexit and Yvette Cooper is a realist on a number of issues and not as stupid as Corbyn who get's shot down on his hypocritic principles time and again !

They were that desperate to cling on to power to oversee this brexit thingy-oh that they pished £1bn up the wall to do it!

You assured us all (I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere) during last years GE campaign, that the Tories will have been working for months on Brexit to secure us a good deal - and I believe you insinuated I was daft for thinking otherwise!

It's all going swimmingly.

Don't think that was me - it was always going to be a tough ask from any party to drive Brexit through.

However is and would be in charge would have had similar discontent in the party, stay in politicians and especially stay in business men who have loads to lose in coming out, business moaning, House of Jackass Lords and the people who cannot accept that most people voted out and are trying to overturn a democratic vote which is what we are - a democratic country !

If this is overturned then we have lost being a democracy and it becomes a dictatorship and we are subserviant and we would have been dictated to and the strongest and usually unethical people who shout the loudest would bring this country into the dark ages - another re-run of Hitler maybe !!

I'm fearing the worst, so strap yourself in !!
