As with us against the Germans and Italians, our European neighbours are fighting for a united Europe by opposing the nationalist approach that Britain is now taking. Just out of interest, do the fish that swim in 'our' waters speak with an English accent or are they free to travel the world's oceans as they see fit?

However, I do look forward to Britain standing on it's own, manufacturing anything and everything to the quality of good old British Leyland cars whilst we stick two fingers up at the world, arrogantly proclaiming, "we're better than you Jonny Foreigner".

Judging by the number of no confidence letters there are 25 odd tory oddballs who, supported by the right wing media, have had the entire country running scared for years.

Its a damning indictment of how thick people are in this country.
So, what you are actually saying that all the spin by both camps, the brexiteers won hands down with their £350 Million side of the bus ploy !!!!! Just goes to show how clever the brexiteers are then doesn't it !!!
Spin. Lie. Whatever.

And if they're so clever why don't one of them lead the negotiations (Farage, Johnson, Davies, Gove, Rees-Mogg...)?
Instead of choosing to stand on the sidelines giving it the Harry Enfield character "You don't wanna do it like that!"?

what a scatter brained comment, ‘our’ waters as you term it are legally defined waters over which we have jurisdiction. The fact our own fisherman are limited to only 30% of the quota in our own waters is not right in my opinion

Well said Alf, I think Flatcapper has temporarily gone Ga Ga ! Someone call for the StraightJacket Brigade please ! Hope you recover soon Flatcapper as some of your responses do have some merit on occasion ! Don't worry though as we all have senior moments and I'll put this down to being one of those occasions and cut you some slack !

Ironically it would appear my fishing is getting some whoppers to bite!

Not for the first time my point is lost on the poor lads clinging on to the Empire.

I am well aware we have a right to defend our waters from such as military encroachment but to suggest the free swimming, wild fish that pop in and out of our waters at will are ours is quite frankly ridiculous. Mind you, I would like to see a complete ban on scallop dredging by everyone as it only kills the sea bed and has no sustainability.

On the contrary.

I still support the views I give but they clearly wind you lot up more than staying in the EU does. 8)

I take it you've seen the news on the independently compiled report on the true 'cost' of leaving the EU? a mere £100bn pa by 2030, equivalent to 3.6% of the GDP. Well worth gaining no control and begging the rest of the world for help.

I know you lot like to call these comments "project fear" but I've always questioned the comments from leavers, always saying the EU costs us financially, removes our control and sovereignty, invites (needed) immigration and so on. Which side is really trying promote fear?

wow, project fear has gone into overdrive today with scaremonger in chief Mark Carney predicting economic armaggedon. Thankfully just about every prediction he’s made since becoming BoE Governor has been wrong. May as well listen to Brian Carney

He's not actually predicting anything though is he?
And why do you think he's scaremongering? What would be the point?

I haven't had the time to read what he's said fully yet.

Diane Abbott would be Labour Home Secretary and joke this week condemned the MET police’s policy of knocking violent moped thugs off their bikes as a means of apprehending them.

Come on you two let’s have your defence of this sickening excuse for a shadow Home Secretary

Yes it hard to imagine why people don't want people to be "scrapped off" who cause abject misery, wound and kill people in the name of their short route to money which is inflicted onto the many citizens who are law abiding - try telling that to parents who have seen their child succumb to the drug culture and the psychological effects that is left for years to others after being targeted by these thugs !

Never heard of him but I’ve had a quick Google.

First off the police didn’t knock him off so not sure what relevance it has to clown Abbott’s comment.

Looks like he failed to stop for police (maybe due to all the drugs and mobile phones he was carrying) instigating a high speed pursuit endangering the public. Thankfully he didn’t injure any innocent bystanders. All the police were cleared of wrongdoing at the inquest.

Maybe the police should just not bother apprehending wrongdoers you’d be happy then

The Independent Police Complaints Commission also found that the officers “conducted a pursuit without authorisation from a senior officer in the control room”.

“It is the opinion of the investigator that the officers also did not consider the risks to Henry of the pursuit or make any considerations as to whether he may have been a juvenile,” the watchdog said last year.

An 18 year old boy, with no criminal convictions (despite being stopped and searched 50+ times in the previous few years) obviously deserved to die due to having 3 mobile phones, £100 worth of weed and 200odd quid on him.
