Faumuina signing Confirmed
Earlier today, we found that Sione Faumuina had been linked with the club for a contract for 2009. The Tigers have released their confirmation today on the official site.
The 27-year-old has been confirmed to have secured a one year deal with the Tigers. Sione has been a regular NRL player since he debuted in 2001 for the Canberra Raiders. In 2005 he made his Superleague debut for Hull FC where he played five games towards the end of the season. Faumuina's leaves the North Queensland Cowboys due to off-field misconduct after falling foul when he rolled his car in Townsville in the early hours of the morning, left the scene and did not report it to the police for 10 hours.
Sione is primarily a back rower but has had experiance at stand-off. Terry Matterson, however, will be looking to put him as a forward to see how he handles it. On the signing, Terry said, "I’m very pleased to have got Sione on board for next year. He will bring us some real presence, he has the size and skill and plenty of experience at the top level in the NRL. When I was at Canberra we tried to bring him back to the club but he opted to stick with the Warriors. He is good with the ball, and can play five eighth, but most of his career has been spent in the back row which is where we see him playing."
Sione has also played for New Zealand Warriors but was released after off-field misconduct relating to alcohol, and Harlequins ended his contract without him even playing a game after he requested to play for North Queensland.
Sione will be appearing on TigerTV tomorrow...

No Appeal from Cas
The Castleford Tigers have today said they will not appeal against the 2 match ban handed out to on loan hooker Scott Moore for a late challenge in fridays defeat at headingly. Scott was charged with striking with the forearm in an incident where he attacked Kevin Sinfield high and late as the Rhinos skipper got a kick away.
Its very likely the club will now let Moore link up with Huddersfield where he will spend next season on loan from St Helens, reports suggest former captain Ryan Hudson will travel the opposite way down the M62 to link up with the Tigers once again.

Cas Linked to former Cowboy
The Daily Express and, Stuart Main's, castigers.net report today that Cas' have signed up North Queensland Cowboy's second-rower, Sione Faumuina. The 27-year-old hasn't been offered a contract extension with the Queensland club, however, following a string of numerous off-field offences. The Daily Express goes on to say, "He was released by the New Zealand Warriors in 2006 for serious misconduct related to alcohol. He then signed a three-year deal with Harlequins, but had his contract ripped up without playing a game because he wanted to join North Queensland. But he fell foul of the Cowboys this year when he rolled his car in Townsville in the early hours of the morning, left the scene and did not report it to the police for 10 hours."

Tigers to miss out on Ben
The YEP reports today on rumours that Ben Cockayne will turn his back on the deal agreed with the Tigers for next year to accept an improved 3 year deal to stay with Hull KR, It has been widely reported that Ben, from Normanton was heading to the Jungle next season to play for his local club but it appears KR have managed to pursuade him to sign an extension to his deal. This will be disappointing news for the Tigers as they were expecting to lose current fullback Stuart Donlan to Leigh for next season and they also turned down the chance to sign Brent Webb from Leeds Rhinos.
The report also speculates on the rumours that former captain Ryan Hudson will join from Huddersfield Giants and these were given substance on saturday when it was announced he would be leaving the Giants. His signing would also be followed by James Evans from Bradford Bulls as the centre is also expected to join the Tigers. These signings are expected to be announced when the anti-tampering deadline has passed on september 1st, Although it would appear Ryan Hudson is free to be announced by any club at this stage.
Other players rumoured to be talking to Castleford are Bradford forwards Chris Feather and former Tiger Andy Lynch, Huddersfield's other 2 released players Rod Jenson and Steve Snitch, Wakefields, Cas born forward Kyle Bibb, Parramatta front rower and cult icon Fuifui Moimoi, Recently sacked stand off Todd Carney and the Tigers are also thought to have signed Doncaster's 21 year old Kyle Briggs, The former Leeds academy star is thought to be heading to the Jungle which will give him his shot at the big time.
