Well That's It...
Right, well that's another season over and done with. Back to the boring Sundays where we are forced to sit in the pub. We have had some highs, and some low's but we got through it and hopefully the club, Terry Matterson and the players learnt something and will take something away with them from this season.
It's not been the easiest of seasons for us fans either, obviously the final standings of this season are disappointing, but on the bright side, the only way for next season is up. I'm sure you will all agree, there are some matches we have played where we have seen some promising performances from all the players, at one point or another. I think the lads deserve a pat on the back.
Sadly, a couple of our key players are confirmed to be leaving, obviously, Luke Dorn is leaving and has signed for London-based club, Harlequins. Captain Awen Guttenbeil has obviously retired, and is heading back home. There are, however, rumours flying around that Andy 'Hendo' Henderson has been offered a contract with the Tigers, although the official word at the moment is that he is also leaving the club, which will also be a sad loss if true, and if this is the case, we wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts over the years.
We have, however, secured some promising signings for our 2009 campaign, recently we confirmed the signing of ex-Tiger Ryan Hudson, we also have the confirmation that Stuart Jones, Sione Faumina, Rangi Chase and Dean Widders will be joining the likes of Ryan McGoldrick, Richard Owen, Joe Westerman, Mitchell Sargent, Brent Sherwin, Michael Shenton and the others down at the Tigers camp.
As for the site, during the off-season you will still be able to catch up on news and updates on the signing front on casforum and obviosuly, everyone is more than welcome to hang around the message boards aswell. However, in the interests of developing the site and the message boards, we may have to take the board/site offline a couple of times during this quieter period. The site will, of course, have the fixtures list on as soon as it is released, the confirmed squad as soon as it is released by Terry and the club and also we are looking into a new live-scores system for the site as well as a new site design and updates for the message board, however, any down-time will be published online as far in advance as possible.
During the off-season we will do our best to keep you 'entertained' with the weekly quiz league under-way and also we are looking into some Q&A's with staff and players from the club. Any community news, including that of the KFC Claws, whom I am sure you will agree have been fantastic once again this year - so a massive well done to Michaela and the girls.
Finally a MASSIVE thank-you goes to our sponsors for this year, Castleford Fans Social Club, Safety by Design and RLPhotos.com, without their support this site wouldn't be online and we look forward to welcoming them back on board for next year and on behalf of the members and staff of casforum we thank them for their continued support.
All that's left for me to say, is thanks to all the members and moderators for everything this season, without you, we wouldnt be the most popularly visited unofficial Castleford Tigers site. Enjoy your off-season guys!!
